Opal L. Crowe Belk, age 82, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2009.

Mrs. Belk was a member of Wilkes Baptist Church, Midfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Donie Lucas Crowe; her husband, Clifton Belk and her son, Gary Clifton Belk. She is survived by her daughter, June (Roger) Edwards and her grandson, Blake Edwards.

Joe S. Flynn, age 76, of Guin, Alabama, passed away Friday, September 4, 2009 at the V.A. Hospital in Birmingham, AL.

Mr. Flynn was born October 6, 1932 in Lamar County, Alabama to the late William Farris and Mary Jane Young Flynn. He was a member of Beaverton Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Flynn was Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving with the 2nd Infantry Division during the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. Mr. Flynn also worked in oil fields in Texas.

He is survived by his wife, Ora Flynn, Guin, AL; 1 son, Wendal Flynn, Kentucky; 1 daughter, Linda Boyett, Millport, AL; 10 step-children; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 21 step-grandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Henry (Dale) Flynn, Verona, Ms, and Redden (Diane) Flynn, Corpus Christi, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Farris and Mary Jane Flynn; his wife, Bertie O’Mary Flynn; 1 step-son, Trent O’Mary; 3 brothers, Travis Flynn, and R.J. Flynn and an infant; and 3 sisters, Eunice Perkins, Savoy Lee Flynn and Mae Grant.

Mr. Cantrell was born September 18, 1943 in Lamar County, AL to the late William Olice and Mary Alice O’Mary Cantrell. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Cantrell had previously worked for McCoy Mfg. and Head Brothers Sawmill. He enjoyed working in the yard and wood working.

Mr. Lucion George Flynn

Lucion George Flynn, age 86, of Guin, AL died Sunday, September 13, 2009 at his residence.

Born November 27, 1922 in Lamar County, AL. He is the Son of the late Albert Austin and Mary Ada McDonald Flynn. He had lived in Guin most of his life and was a member of the Mt. Willing Free Will Baptist Church and a Veteran of World War II having served in the US Army.

Jerry Millican, age 61, of Guin, AL died Saturday, September 12, 2009 at his residence.

Born January 14, 1948 in Brilliant, AL. He is the Son of the late Elzie and Ruby Lee Jones Millican and the Husband of Myra Boles Millican. He had lived in Guin most of his life and was a member of the Center United Methodist Church. He was a Veteran of the Viet Nam War having served in the Marines.

He is survived by his Wife, Myra Boles Millican of Guin, AL, Daughter In Law, Shannon Holmes, 3 Grandchildren, Cortney Holt, Phylicia Nicole Holmes and Kelsey Renee Holmes, A Sister, Judy Millican of Winfield, AL, 3 Brothers, Edward Plunkett of Guin, AL, Lee Roy Plunkett of Hamilton, AL and Russell Plunkett of Sulligent, AL, 2 Aunts, Pauline Birmingham of Guin, AL and Mildred Guffey of TN, and a host of Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.

Mr. James Lewis Hollis
(April 10, 1932 - September 22, 2009)

James Lewis Hollis, age 77, of Sulligent, AL, husband of Sue Hall Hollis, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at his residence.

Visitation, 6:00 until 9:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the Otts Funeral Home. Funeral service, 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 24, 2009 from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel. Burial in the Furnace Hill Cemetery. Mr. Sonny McLellan and Mr. Travis Brown officiating.

Mr. Hollis was born on April 10, 1932 in Lamar County, AL to the late Forney Lewis and Annie Grace Graham Hollis. He was a member of the Mt. Olive Church of Christ. Mr. Hollis was married for 55 years to Sue Hall Hollis. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Germany and France during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Hollis had previously worked for Magnolia Tree Service, Weyerhaeuser and GenCorp. He was a member of the Northwest Alabama Hunting Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Hollis, Sulligent, AL.; 1 daughter, Ann Hollis, Hamilton, AL.; 1 brother, John Paul (Stella) Hollis, Columbus, MS.; 4 sisters, Doris Ann (Teague) Taylor, Sulligent, AL., Mary Virginia Bennett, Sulligent, AL., Lou Ella Knight, Vernon, AL., and Clara (Walter) Piel, Odessa, TX.; and 1 aunt: Vera Jewel, Sulligent, AL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Forney Lewis and Annie Grace Graham Hollis.
