Mr. Joe S. Flynn

Joe S. Flynn, age 76, of Guin, Alabama, passed away Friday, September 4, 2009 at
the V.A. Hospital in Birmingham, AL.
Visitation 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Sunday, September 6, 2009, at the Otts Funeral
Home. Funeral services, 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 7, 2009, from the
Otts funeral Home Chapel with military honors to follow in Webb Cemetery in
Lamar County, AL. Bro. Danny Stanford and Bro. Dwayne Hammontree officiating.
Active pallbearers, Mark O’Mary, Marion O’Mary, Wesley O’Mary, Jason
Hamontree, Jeremy Hamontree, Nathan Cooper and Adam Lolley.
Mr. Flynn was born October 6, 1932 in Lamar County, Alabama to the late William
Farris and Mary Jane Young Flynn. He was a member of Beaverton Freewill Baptist
Church. Mr. Flynn was Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving with the 2nd Infantry
Division during the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion.
Mr. Flynn also worked in oil fields in Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Ora Flynn, Guin, AL; 1 son, Wendal Flynn, Kentucky;
1daughter, Linda Boyett, Millport, AL; 10 step-children; 4 grandchildren; 6
great-grandchildren; 21 step-grandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren; 2
brothers, Henry (Dale) Flynn, Verona, Ms, and Redden (Diane) Flynn, Corpus
Christi, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Farris and Mary Jane Flynn; his
wife, Bertie O’Mary Flynn; 1 step-son, Trent O’Mary; 3 brothers, Travis Flynn,
and R.J. Flynn and an infant; and 3 sisters, Eunice Perkins, Savoy Lee Flynn and
Mae Grant.
