(Reprint of comment made during service for Thelma Loden

Holcombe, September 6, 2008)

We are here to celebrate Thelma's journey to be with her Lord

by his amazing grace.

She spent her entire life serving Him with her ever loving

smiling face and friendly hug that made all of us feel as if she was truly a

sister. Encouraging to every young person whose path she would cross and

loving compassion for the elderly. Any heartbreak that any of us were

experiencing, Thelma was always there to comfort and hurt with us.

SINCERE LOVE

She was uplifting every time you saw her and I'm sure she

would want every one of us here to sing out with enthusiasm as we sing her

favorite hymns - Victory in Jesus and God's Family.

Preceded in death by husband, Travis Holcombe, 1990.

Survivors:

Son, Charles Holcombe, wife Yoko and sons, Travis and Jason of Big Canoe,

Georgia; Daughter, Donna Holcombe Mora, Husband, Joe and sons, David, and Adam

of Lakewood, California.

Brother, Sonny and wife, Doris of Hackleburg, Alabama and Nashville, Tennessee.

Also, her many relatives and friends in this community and across the country,

because as you know "once you met Thelma, you were considered her friend".

Early

in life, Thelma along with her mother, Della, "Pop" Loden, Ruby Palmer, and

brother, Sonny James, made up the family musical group, The Loden Family, later

to be known as Sonny Loden and the Southerners. For years, they appeared

on major radio stations throughout the United States. This well known

group was honored many times in the forties by the music industry. Thelma

was a key to their successes. Her brother would later be known as Hall of

Fame member, Sonny James. Thelma was by his side when was inducted in

2006-2007.
