She was retired from the Dept. of Pensions & Security, and a 1937 graduate of State Secondary Agricultural School (Former name of Hamilton High School in Hamilton, AL).

She is survived by 1 sister, Elaine Clark (James Roy) Cashion; 12 nieces and nephews; a host of great nieces, great nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Wilson Lindsey; her parents, Jim and Minnie Clark; 4 brothers, Audrey Clark, Orville Clark, Willard Clark, and Henry Clark; 1 sister, Margaret Clark Bostick; 4 nephews, Donald Clark, Keith Clark, Tom Clark, and Michael Bostick.

Mrs. Audrey Chambless Perry, age 88 of Winfield, passed away September 2, 2007 at her residence. Mrs. Perry was born on June 23, 1919 in Fayette Co. a daughter of Lester and Maudie Hollingsworth Chambless; resident of Winfield most of her life and a member of White’s Chapel Church of Christ. She loved people; enjoyed a house full of kids and grandkids, fishing, Braves baseball and Alabama football. Flety Inez Ray, age 75, of Hackleburg, Alabama, died Thursday, September 13, 2007.

A memorial service will be held Monday, September 17th, at 4:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Hackleburg, with Hulon Bishop and Steve Lawrence officiating.

Flety was born November 12, 1931, in Florence, Alabama. She attended local schools, graduating from Hackleburg High School. She married Owen Ray on April 16, 1950. Flety and Owen moved to Adrian, Michigan, where they resided for many years, raising their two sons, Ed and Brad. They returned to Hackleburg in 1995, where they lived in their home on Baker Street and enjoyed renewing many old friendships. Owen preceded Flety in death in February, 2006. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Stanley Taylor, and her brother, Wayman Taylor.

Survivors include sons, Edward Wade (Kathy) Ray and Thomas Bradley (Tamara) Ray; five grandchildren, Monica (A.J.) Alsup, Liza Ray, Natalie Ray, Sylvie Ray, and Nicholas Ray; one great-granddaughter, Adilade Alsup; a brother, Robert Taylor, and sisters, Daris Stephens (Carl), Rena White, and sister-in-law, Willa Grace Taylor. Flety is also survived by her Ray Family sisters and brothers-in-law, Guynell Sanders (Gay); Mildred Hire Fleming (Addy); Ann Vickery (Crockett), Paul Ray (Gracelyn); Wayne Ray (Lela), Max Ray (Carol); Jimmy Ray (Jean), and numerous nieces and nephews from both the Ray and Taylor families. Flety also enjoyed the love and support of her neighbors and friends, especially Ron and Gayra Nichols.

Flety was a kind, nurturing person who loved to help others. Her time spent working with runaway girls at a state facility in Michigan is only one example of her giving spirit. She was a delightful lady who brightened up the lives of all those who came in contact with her - always ready to provide a visitor with a kind word, a funny story, or a hot meal. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.

SULLIGENT, Ala. - Bobby M. Bryson, 73, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, at his home. He was born Jan. 3, 1934, near Brighton, Tenn., to the late Marshall and Audra Yarbro Bryson. In 1945 he moved to Covington, Tenn., and in 1968, to Tupelo. Trained as a welder, he worked in Tupelo with a structural steel building company. In 1970 he moved to Vernon, Ala., and became an independent contract welder specializing in oil field service work and became a master in his trade. In 1990 he joined the car business and operated a lot near his home in Sulligent until recently. He was a Baptist. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races, going to car auctions, working in his garden, and "Memphis Beat" music. He enjoyed life itself and always lived it as an adventure for himself and those around him.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Otts Funeral Home Chapel in Sulligent with Bro. Glenn Boman officiating. Burial will be in the Auburn Baptist Church Cemetery in Lee County.

SULLIGENT, Ala. - Pauline Faye Forth Guyton, 80, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, at Northwest Medical Center in Winfield, Ala., after a brief illness. She was born Jan. 3, 1927, in Barboursville, W.Va., to the late Russell and Ella Black Forth. She lived in Greenwood Springs and Priestville, and in Sulligent for several years. She was a homemaker and an employee of Gattman Sportswear before retiring. She loved Elvis Presley and John Wayne, and enjoyed her children and grandchildren. She married Tommie Travis Guyton on March 15, 1960, in Marion, Ohio; he preceded her in death in 1979.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday,20th, at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory with Bro. Phillip Blaylock officiating. Burial will be in Crews Cemetery in Sulligent.

HAMILTON, Ala. - Barbara Ann Wells, 62, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2007, in Hamilton, Ala., after a sudden illness. She was born Jan. 28, 1945, in Amory to Ovie Lee Nabors Wells and the late Jack Wells. She had lived in Fairfax, Va., and in Hamilton, Ala., for several years. She was a Baptist. She was married to Johnny Ross Camp from 1962 to 1996. She was a former employee of the North Mississippi Medical Center and now manager of Ashwood Apartments in Hamilton, Ala. She enjoyed traveling.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, 20th, at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory with Bro. Keith Nichols officiating. Burial will be in Hatley Cemetery.

BELMONT, MS. - Vera Mann Deaton, 99, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, at Southern Magnolia Estates in Golden, where she had been a resident for a number of years. She was born Jan. 9, 1908, in Mississippi to John Evan and Laura Ross Underwood Mann. She was co-founder of Deaton Funeral Home in Belmont. She was a member of Belmont First Baptist Church and a past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Belmont with the Rev. Dallas Culver officiating. Burial will be in Belmont City Cemetery.

BELMONT - Arlis Johnson, 83, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, at the Red Bay Hospital. He was born May 28, 1924, in Lee County to William E. and Ora Payne Johnson. He was an employee of the Mississippi State Highway Department for 31 years. He was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge in Belmont.

RED BAY, Ala. - William Hoyt Keeton Sr., 73, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, at Southern Magnolia Estates in Golden.

He was born Nov. 22, 1933, in Alabama to H.L. and Lola Bostick. He was president of Keeton Oil Company and Southern Grocers Inc. for 46 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men's Club. He was a member of the Red Bay Lions Club, where he was a recipient of the Melvin Jones Award. He was a charter member of the Red Bay Athletic Boosters Club and was inducted into the Franklin County Sports Hall of Fame. The Red Bay Walking Trail was named in his honor. He was the recipient of the Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame in 2004 and a charter member of the Redmont Country Club.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church in Red Bay with the Rev. Dallas Culver and Dr. Dwayne McDuff officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay is in charge of the arrangements.

ZION, Ill. - Claude E. Pounders, 65, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, at Condell Hospital in Libertyville, Ill. He was born Jan. 27, 1942, in Dennis and moved to Zion after high school. He was a carpenter and a member of the Zion-Benton Moose. He was an avid Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Cardinals fan, and enjoyed walking at Gurnee Mills.

Jimmy Ray “Bodie” Canterberry, 42, Winfield, AL. passed away Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, as result of a four-wheeler accident.

Born on April 5, 1965, in Fayette County, he was the son of Betty LaGwin Norris Canterberry and the late Cecil Ray Canterberry. He was a lifelong resident of Winfield. He was previously employed with Carver Cabinet Doors for the past three years.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007, at 2 p.m. from the McGraw Memorial Chapel of Miles Funeral Home with burial in the Musgrove Chapel Cemetery. James Wyers and Bryan Howell were the officiating ministers.

In addition to his mother, survivors include his step-father - Bill Foster, Winfield; wife - Melissa Woodruff Canterberry; step-son - Adam Woodruff, Winfield; step-daughters - Jessica Busha, Cullman, and Leslie Cox and Ashley Woodruff, both of Guin; six step-grandchildren; sister - Johnna (Jacky) Bridgeman; special nephew - Andy Bridgeman; and a host of aunts, uncles, and other relatives

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Theron and Jimmie Canterberry and Johnie and Teet Norris.

Eva Cantrell Davis, age 92, of Winfield, AL., passed away Thursday, September 27, 2007, at the Golden Living Center in Winfield, AL.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, at 2 p.m. from the McGraw Memorial Chapel of Miles Funeral Home with burial in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens in Gu-Win. Dr. Charles Ballew was the officiating minister.

Born on Dec. 23, 1914, in Fayette County, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Weatherly and Surville Humber Cantrell. She was a resident of Winfield most of her life and was a member of the Winfield First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter - Joan (Tommy) Howell, Winfield; son - Allan (Linda) Davis, Deatsville; grandchildren - Ed Howell, Jasper, and Kerri (Jody) Wilson, Wetumpka; great-grandchild - A.J. Wilson; sister - Myra Jones, Orlando, Fla.; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Culbert Davis; infant sister; and sisters, Leona Phillips and Louise Stanley.

Donald Ray Hulsey, age 57, of Brilliant, AL., passed away Sunday, September 30, 2007, at his residence.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 3, 2007, at 2 p.m. from the McGraw Memorial Chapel of Miles Funeral Home with burial in the Center Cemetery. Jerry Self was the officiating minister.

Born December 15, 1950, in Marion County, he was the son of Vernell Self Hulsey and the late Roland Odell Hulsey. He was a resident of Michigan until moving to Marion County 15 years ago. He was a member of the Gold Mine Church of Christ.

In addition to his mother, survivors include his step-father - Merlin Stough, Brilliant; son - Danny (Gealdine) Hulsey, Brilliant; grandchildren - Carleigh and McKenzie Hulsey; brother - Roger Odell Hulsey, Brilliant; sisters - Brenda (Dean) Bruger, Addison, Mich., and Linda (Russ) Egbert, Guymon, Okla.; special great-niece - Jayda Gann; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Robert Preston Lucas, 91, Detroit, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2007, in the Golden Living Center in Winfield.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 3, 2007, at 2 p.m. from the Liberty Missionary Baptist Church with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Bro. Venlon Bradford, Bro. Tim Harris and Bro. Sidney McLeod were the officiating ministers.

Born on December 24, 1915, in Lamar County, he was the son of the late William Asbury and Nancy Nora Northington Lucas. He was a member of the Liberty Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit. He was previously employed as a bus driver for Gardener Bus Line in Minor Heights and for the U.S. Steel (TCI) in Birmingham.

Survivors include his daughters - Hazel Irvin (William) Jones, Amory, MS., Linda Lucas (Gerald) Spann, Winfield, AL., and June Lucas (Tommy) Crowe, Suwanee, GA.; sons - William Grafton (Rosa) Lucas, Hamilton, AL., and Robert Lee (Debbie) Lucas, Becker, MS.; 13 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great- grandchildren; and sisters - Birtie Mae Roberts, Hamilton, AL., and Alice Phillips, Sulligent, AL.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lona Mae Gosa Lucas; brothers, Roston Arthur Lee, Johnny, and Kelly Lucas; and sister, Laura Gosa.

Lucille Duke, age 90 of Red Bay, AL. died September 24, 2007 at the Care Center of Red Bay.

She was born April 16, 1917 in Franklin County to Icie and Susie Barksdale Belcher. She was a retired school teacher and a member of Atwood Freewill Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Guy Duke, and son Dwight Duke.

Graveside services were held September 26, 2007 at the Holly Springs Cemetery with Bro. Charles Holcomb officiating.

She is survived by sister, Gimilla Barker of Red Bay; daughter, Donnie Duke of Red Bay; granddaughter, Jessica Duke of Nashville, Tenn.; and grandson, Jarod Duke of Missouri.

Mrs. Bobbie Sue Eads Cunningham, age 80 of Eldridge, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2007 in the DCH Regional Medical Center at Tuscaloosa. Mrs. Cunningham was born on March 4, 1927 in Alabama a daughter of Pratt and Alma Brymer Eads; lifelong resident of Eldridge; widow of Bill Sams and Clyde Cunningham; and a member of Eldridge Methodist Church. In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James Allen Sams; two brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include one daughter, Millie (Scott) Blair of Eldridge; one grandson, Jeff Blair of Eldridge; one granddaughter, Cyndy (Tony) Hallmark of Winfield; one great-grandson, McKinley Hallmark; one brother, Harold Eads of Charleston SC; one sister, Audrey Draper of Nashville, TN; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
