James
B. Stutts died Monday, October 27, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born November 19, 1932 in
Rogersville, Alabama, he grew up on a small farm and after graduation from
Rogersville High School in 1950; he enlisted in the United States Army. He
served in the Korean conflict for 13 months in 1953 - 1954, an again in 1960 -
1961. Between these years he was stationed in Alaska for several months
and Germany for five years. His next tour of duty was the Vietnam conflict
where he served twice, once from 1967 - 1968, and again in 1970 - 1971. He
received two Bronze Stars for his service in Vietnam. He retired after 20
years of service as a Chief Warrant Officer 2 in 1972. After military
retirement he was employed at Federal Mogul in Hamilton, Alabama, where he
worked until retirement in 1996. He enjoyed gardening, lawn work, and was
always willing to help anyone that needed a helping hand. He loved
listening to Gospel music and watching Alabama football.
He is survived by his wife,
Betty J. Stutts, and four children, Sherry Brown and her husband Jimmy Brown of
Hamilton, Alabama; Keith Stutts and Becky Stutts, of Omaha, Nebraska; Dr.
Michael Stutts and wife Beth Stutts, of Sheffield, Alabama; and Teresa Loden, of
Birmingham, Alabama. He has one sister, Jean Mills and husband Robert
Mills, of Rogersville, Alabama. There are 11 grandchildren, and 2 great
grandchildren with another on the way. There are many cousins, In-laws and
friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Cecil Stutts, and
Bertha Perry Stutts, of Rogersville, Alabama.

Kalliath, Holden, and Mokulls. Also thanks to the respiratory department
as well as the nurses and staff on the 6th floor at ECM hospital.
The family will receive
guests Wednesday October 29, 2008, from 5:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. at First
Baptist Church, Hackleburg, Alabama. The funeral will be October 30, 2008,
at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Steve Laurence officiating. Burial will Follow
at Cedar Tree Cemetery in Hackleburg.
