Mary Magdalene Clifton, age 74, of Greenwood Springs, Mississippi, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2010, at Northwest Medical Center in Winfield, Alabama. Visitation, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening, November 23, 2010, at the Otts Funeral Home, Sulligent, Alabama. Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at New Centerpoint Freewill Baptist Church, where the body will lie-in-state at the church from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Bro. Kelvin Price and Bro. Jeff Scott officiating. Burial in Pickle Cemetery. Active pallbearers, Donald Hulsey, Mikey Tate, Billy McCollum, Seth Armstrong, Tyler Stone, Jimmy Armstrong, George Thompson III, Jake McCollum, Austin Scott and Chris King. Ms. Clifton was born July 16, 1936 in Monroe County, MS., to Onay Ray Beard and the late John Wesley Beard. She was the wife of Charles Clifton. She was a member of the New Centerpoint Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, Gardening, canning food and taking care of and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her mother, Onay Beard, Greenwood Springs, MS.; her husband, Charles Clifton, Greenwood Springs, MS.; 1 daughter, Teresa Dillard, Greenwood Springs, MS.; 2 grandchildren, Laine (George) Thompson, Plantersville, MS., and Hailey Dillard, Greenwood Springs, MS.; 3 great-grandchildren, George, Ali, and Bailey Grace Thompson; 1 cousin, Billy King, Greenwood Springs, MS.; 5 nieces; and 1 nephew; and 1 sister-in-law, Peggy Stone, Detroit, AL. She was preceded in death by her father, John Wesley Beard; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Floyd and Myrtice Clifton; and 1 sister, Jean Gilmer.
