Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2009 at his residence.
Visitation, 6:00 - 9:00
p.m., Monday, May 18, 2009 at the Hamilton United Methodist Church, downtown,
Hamilton, Alabama. Funeral service, 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at
the Hamilton United Methodist Church. Burial in
Cedar Tree Cemetery in Hackleburg, AL.

Douglas
B. Green, 89, of Hamilton passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2009.
Born on
February 2, 1920 in Marion County, he was the son of the late Lemuel Augustus
Green, Bertha Elizabeth Burleson Green and step-mother, Icy Estelle Northam
Green.
He was a
WWII Veteran, serving in France and Germany while being attached to Patton's
Third Army. He was an employee of the Alabama Department of Public Safety
for 25 years. He was a member of Hamilton First United Methodist Church.
He was
preceded in death by his wife of nearly 65 years, Mary Jean Brooks Green, and
son, Douglas B. Green, Jr. Survivors include a son, Jimmy (Judy) Green and
a daughter, Mary Kathryn Green Estes (Tommy), and adopted son, Bob Straub (Ladawn);
grandchildren, John David Garrison (Jennifer), Angie Jean Green Warren (Jon
Alan), Jamey Green (Emily), Gena Frederick Pickle (Scotty); 8
great-grandchildren, Emma Caroline Warren, Maggie Brooks Warren, Jackson Douglas
Green, Mary Claire Pickle, Chloe Scott Pickle, Chelsea Underwood, John David
Garrison, Jr., and Elizabeth Grace Garrison.
Funeral
services were held on Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Hamilton First
United Methodist Church with burial in Cedar Tree Cemetery in Hackleburg.
Mac Buttram was the officiating Minister. Pallbearers were James W. Tate,
Gordon Green, Roger Mays, Jerry Mays, Harry Green, Rodney Green, Chris Cook, and
Ralph Green. Honorary pallbearers were Chris Rich, Eddie Lyle, Bill
Strickland, Rufus Northam, Bud Rudicell, Dewell Emerson, J. H. Mixon, and Austin
Jones.
The
family extends a special thanks to all caregivers, sitters and close family
friend, Wilma Ballard.
In lieu of flowers,
