Eddy Cantrell age 52 of Guin, AL died Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at his residence.

Born in Guin, AL, he is the son of the late Richard Pearceson Hobson and Mattie

Marie Vaughn Cantrell. He had lived in Guin all of his life and worked for 3M

Company. He was a member of the 877th Army National Guard and served in Iraq.

He is survived by his Wife, Sarina Benton Cantrell of Guin, AL, A Daughter,

Emily (Jeremy) Cantrell Pruett of Tuscaloosa, AL, A Son, James Michael Cantrell

of Guin, A Brother, Richard (Diann) Vaughn Cantrell of Guin, AL, 2

Grandchildren, Madison and Houstyn Pruett, Nieces and Nephews, Skilyn Benton,

Wayne Cantrell, Mason Benton, Deania Benton, David Benton, Ola Kay Dunn, Cary

Dunn, Drake Dunn, Cody Cantrell and Tori Cantrell.

He was also preceded in death by a Sister, Nell Cantrell.

Services held Friday, May 9, 2008 at 11:00 AM from the Norwood Funeral Home

of Sulligent, AL died Friday, May 9, 2008 in Nevada

TX.

He was born in McKinney, TX to the late Stanley and Jessie Adine Haynes Apollos.

Alvin was of the Baptist faith and had resided both in Alabama and Texas most of

his life. He was a Commercial Truck Driver for many years he also loved caring

for Horse's and cows as just one of his hobbies. It has been said that Alvin

never met a stranger, he loved meeting and getting to know his friends and

associates.

Survived by Three Daughters: Misty Lanahan of Nevada, TX, Jennifer Apollos

Gonzalez of Round Rock, TX and Casey Cole of West Columbia, TX, Three Brothers:

Jimmy (Virginia) White of Beaverton, AL, Jesse Paul White of Sulligent, AL, and

years, Hamilton, Alabama, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2008 at North

Mississippi Medical Center of Hamilton. Born on April 23, 1926, in Marion

County, she was the daughter of the late Belmer Lewis Nix and Willard (Holley)

Nix. She was retired from NTN of Hamilton, a member of First Baptist

Church of Hamilton, where she was a member of the Oasis Choir. After

retirement, she enjoyed traveling abroad as well as in the states. She met

O.C. Blaylock of Dothan, AL and they were married on December 23, 1941, now

deceased. Born unto them one son, Ottis C. Blaylock, also deceased.

Survivors include her

daughter-in-law, Sue Jones Blaylock (Glynn) Carroll of Smyrna, GA. One

grandchild, Mark Blaylock, Guin, AL.; one great-granddaughter, Kaylee Blaylock

of Tupelo, MS. Sisters; Betty Jo (Tennis) Frederick of Tarrant, AL.,

Willow Joyce Nix Cooper of Pilot Point, Texas; Brothers; Lewis (Carol) Nix of

at the Physicians Medical Center, Carraway in Birmingham.

be held on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. from the New Jerusalem Church of

God in Christ where the body will lie in state from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M.

Officiating minister will be Supt. Murry R. Johnson. Burial will follow in the

Gilmer Addition of the Sulligent City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on

Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Winston was born on July 30, 1928 in Lamar County, AL to the late R.C. and

Rozina Ogden Neal. She was married to the late James Winston. Mrs. Winston was a

member of the New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ. She was retired from McCoy

Manufacturing. Mrs. Winston served as the President of the Mother's Board and of

the Sewing Circle and was a member of the Christian Women's Council. She enjoyed

sewing, quilting and shopping.

Mr. Vinson was born on

November 12, 1944 in Lamar County, AL to Mary Madglean Vinson and the late Floyd

Jacob Vinson. He was a member of the Mulberry Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Vinson

was a 1962 graduate of Sulligent High School. He was retired from the concrete

business and had recently been doing excavation work. He enjoyed fishing,

hunting and racing.

Mrs. Burnett was born on

Burnett enjoyed gardening, family and her church.

ANNIE RUTH JENKINS, 87, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, died on May 25, 2008.

Ruth Johnson was born in Galloway, AL on August 11, 1919, graduated from

Haleyville High School and the University of Alabama, and received her Master's

degree from Alabama State University. Ruth Johnson served in the U.S. Navy

during World War II and taught at Houston Hills Junior High School where she was

also the librarian.

A graveside service will be

held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 29, at Winston Memorial Cemetery, Hwy 195,

Haleyville, Alabama; Ruth Johnson will be laid to rest next to her husband of 61

years.

Ruth Johnson was preceded in

death by her husband, Judge Frank M. Johnson, Jr., and their son, James "Johnny"

Curtis Johnson; her parents William Riley and Frances Edna Rice Jenkins; her

sisters Florence Marie Harris, Eunice Nettie Hammond, Eula Mae Williams, and

Vaudie Jewell Norris; and her brothers Edgar Millard Jenkins and Eric Clifford

Jenkins.

Center at Winfield.

James was born on December

10, 1950 in Marion Co. a son of Richard Earl and Evie Whitehead Nix; lifelong

resident of Winfield; attended Winfield City Schools; retired Iron Worker as a

Foreman from Miller Steam Plant; member of the Car Nut Club; member of Masonic

Lodge #304 at Winfield; and a member of Faith Fellowship Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Nix

and a sister, Audrey Johnson.

Survivors include his wife, Twanna Sprinkle Nix of Winfield; one son, James Earl

"Dobber" (Christie) Nix of Hubbertville; two daughters, Angie (Walter) Lowry and

Natalie Nix, both of Winfield; two step-daughters, Brittney (Michael) Hosch of

Guin and Brandi (Mark) Yancey of Cullman; three grandchildren, Kayla Corley,

Chelsey Dempsey and Tyde Nix; seven step-grandchildren, Hunter and Kate Hosch,

Home at Guin.

Mrs. Sanderson was born on March 6, 1927 in Marion Co. a daughter of Morgan and

Jimmie Gregg Mills; lifelong resident of the Brilliant area; 1946 graduate of

Brilliant High School; retired from Drummond Coal Co.; member of American Legion

Ladies Auxiliary at Brilliant; and a member of Brilliant United Methodist

Church.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a

great-grandson, Hollin Sanderson; two sons, Danny and George Sanderson, Jr. and

two brothers, Orby and Frank Mills.

Survivors include two daughters, Amelia (Greg) Hamric of Winfield and Becky

(Jamey) Plunkett of Twin; two sons, Bobby (Doris) Sanderson of Winfield and Greg

Sanderson of Brilliant; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 2

great-grandchildren on the way; one brother, Charles (Judy) Mills of St. Louis,

MO; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mr. Moore was born on February 26, 1939 in Tuscaloosa Co. a son of Robert Emmett

Moore, Jr. and Sally Bess Harris Moore; he was born on the campus of the

University of Alabama; resident of Winfield most of his life; while in high

school, he excelled in baseball and basketball; he attended Vanderbilt

University where he pledged Kappa Sigma and graduated Phi Beta Kappa; he served

in the Army for two years as First Lieutenant at Fort Holabird, MD; employed

with Tidwell Industries in Winfield; later moved to Jasper and then to Morehead

City, NC to join Conner Homes Corp; in 1991 he became the Executive Director of

BP Oil Marketers Assoc.; in 2004 he and wife retired to Banner Elk, NC.;

throughout his life, Allen dedicated himself to his family, the work of the

United Methodist Church, numerous civic organizations and most recently to the

Banner House Museum; his life was spent cultivating family, friends and flower

gardens where ever he lived; his family and friends will remember Allen as the

most tender hearted of people. We will miss him dearly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert

Emmett Moore, III.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Lynda Stockfisch Moore of Banner Elk,

Fred Franks age 76 of Guin, AL died Thursday, May 29, 2008 at his residence.

Born in Winfield, AL. He is the Son of the late Frelon Monroe and Pearlie Ethel

Sandlin Franks. Fred was a Veteran of the Korean War having served in the US

Army and was a member of the Guin First Baptist Church.

He was a graduate of Winfield High School, East Mississippi Junior College and

the University of Georgia. He also received a MA from the University of Alabama.

He spent his teaching career in Dekalb County, Georgia where he coached

basketball and other sports and taught Business Education at Cross Keys High

School, Peachtree High School and Henderson High School. He was a member of the

Atlanta Tip Off Club and a Charter Member of the Dekalb County Tip Off Club.

Fred was inducted to the Marion County Sports Hall of Fame in 1996 and the East

Mississippi Junior College Sports Hall of Fame in 2006.

He is survived by his Wife, Grace Helen White Franks of Guin, AL, A Son, Lee

Barton ( Katherine) Franks of Sugar Hill, GA, A Grandson Kyle Bennett Franks, A

died Tuesday, May 20, 2008 in the Fayette Medical Center.

Mrs. Moore was born on July 11, 1910 in Fayette Co. a daughter of Pearl Allen

Hocutt and Harriett Roberts Hocutt; lifelong resident of the Wayside and Old

Union Church areas; widow of Robert Arnold Moore, Sr.; and a member of Musgrove

Chapel United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two

brothers, Victor and Stacy Hocutt.

Survivors include one son, Robert A. (Sarah) Moore, Jr. of Winfield; one

daughter, Charlene (John) Gary of Fayette; four grandchildren, Roger (Rhonda)

Moore, Renee (Judson) Brooks, Chris (Elizabeth) Gary and Cheryl (Randall)

Bowles; eight great-grandchildren, Raul (Kassie) Dominguez Moore, Carlos (Kyla)

Dominguez Moore, Alan (Sarah) Moore, Ryan, Rachel and Reid Brooks, Clay and Walt

Mr.

William J. Spiller, age 65 of Guin, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2008 at his

residence.

Mr. Spiller was born on October 19, 1942 in Marion Co. a son of William Jackson

Spiller and Susie Mae Couch Spiller; resident of Guin and Winfield areas; 1961

Graduate of Winfield High School and Northwest Junior College at Hamilton;

employed with Winfield Cotton Mill for 36 years; previously employed with

Bruno's, Winn Dixie and Jacks at Guin; member of Winfield and Guin National

Guard; and a member of Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret May Spiller of Guin; one son, Todd

(Consuelo) Spiller of Guin; one daughter, Karen Spiller of Guin; four

grandchildren, Lauren, David, Jay and Anna Grace Spiller; one sister, Sherion

(Russell) Guin of Guin; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mrs. Hallmark was born on March 3, 1928 in Marion Co. a daughter of Moody

previously employed with Reltoc Mfg.; widow of Arlie Hallmark; and a member of

Poplar Springs Primitive Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two

sisters, Lois Harkins and Kathleen Wood; and four brothers, Wilburn, Jimmy, O.D.

and Jackie Eads.

Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn (Wayne) Atkins of Winfield; two

granddaughters, Cindy (Mark) Nichols and Tracie (Martin) Graham; four

in the Golden Living Center at Winfield. Mrs. Clark was born on June 15, 1911 in

Fayette Co. a daughter of William Garfield and Ella Mills Aldridge; lifelong

resident of Fayette Co. in the Winfield area; widow of Dowell Aubrey Clark who

died 12/11/1961; taught music, piano and guitar; sang with family at numerous

funerals throughout the years; and a member of Glen Allen Church of Christ.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four

brothers, Rufus, Robert, Jeff and Roland Aldridge; three sisters, Elaine

Wakefield, Earlyne Hubbert and Mary Belle McWhirter; one grandchild, Daphne

Paige Clark; one daughter-in-law, Betty Clark; and one son-in-law, Roger

McCaleb.

She was the daughter of the

late Floyd and Ora Cleveland Anglin. She was a native of Marion County and was a

military mother. She was previously employed withM. Fine and Slant/Slant in

Lawrenceburg, Tenn.

In addition to her parents,

she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Chuck" Jarnagin; daughter,

Kathy Leigh Ciuro; and brother, Charles Hughdon Anglin.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, June 1, 2008, at noon from the Neal

Funeral Home Chapel of Lawrenceburg. Stephen Moore was the officiating minister.

burial were held at 3 p.m. at Union Hill Cemetery in Hackleburg.

Mackie Emerson Alexander of

Amarillo died Tuesday, May 20, 2008. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday

in Memorial Park Cemetery with Alan Alexander officiating.

Mrs. Alexander was born April 20, 1936, in Hodges, Ala., and was raised in

Kress. She was the daughter of the late Joe and Addie Holland Emerson, from

Hodges, and Granddaughter of Peter and Nancy Avery Emerson. She graduated

from high school in Blissfield, Michigan and married LeRoy

Alexander on March 23, 1955, in Clovis, N.M. They moved to Amarillo in 1973 from

Dumas.

She was a loving wife and mother. She worked as a teacher's aide for the

Amarillo Independent School District for more than 30 years before retiring in

2005. During her career, she worked at Lamar and Forest Hill, as well as Sleepy

Hollow. She loved her job and the opportunity to work with so many children whom

she loved so much.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter in 1960.

Survivors include her husband, LeRoy; two daughters, Tammi Alexander of

Anchorage, Alaska, and Robin Davis and husband Tommy of Colleyville; two

brothers, Rob Emerson of Elizabethton, Tenn., and Gene Emerson of Statesville,

N.C.; two sisters, Mary McKenzie of Statesville and Jo Ann Stricklin of Green

County, Tenn.; and many other friends and relatives who loved her very much.
