ANNIE RUTH JENKINS, 87, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, died on May 25, 2008.
Ruth Johnson was born in Galloway, AL on August 11, 1919, graduated from
Haleyville High School and the University of Alabama, and received her Master's
degree from Alabama State University. Ruth Johnson served in the U.S. Navy
during World War II and taught at Houston Hills Junior High School where she was
also the librarian.
A graveside service will be
held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 29, at Winston Memorial Cemetery, Hwy 195,
Haleyville, Alabama; Ruth Johnson will be laid to rest next to her husband of 61
years.
Ruth Johnson was preceded in
death by her husband, Judge Frank M. Johnson, Jr., and their son, James "Johnny"
Curtis Johnson; her parents William Riley and Frances Edna Rice Jenkins; her
sisters Florence Marie Harris, Eunice Nettie Hammond, Eula Mae Williams, and
Vaudie Jewell Norris; and her brothers Edgar Millard Jenkins and Eric Clifford
Jenkins.

"Jimmy" Noel and Mary Ann Johnson, Sr., Frieda Hudson and Franklin James, Edward
Badham, Maury Badham Boshell, Peggy Norris, Mark Norris, Steve Norris, Melissa
Flowers, Susan Story, Carla Ray, Dorris Diehl, Bobbie Ruth Smith, Judith Horan,
Tillman Lee Jenkins, Wanda Louise Loyd, Deanna Bond, Miria Fern Griffith, Sandra
Fay Turner, Patricia Ann Knight, Roseanna Whiteside, Frank McCoy, William Rush
Johnson, Mary Johnson Goodwyn, James Noel Johnson, Jr., Carol Jean Heinemann,
Ruth Ann Dailey, Emily B. James, Virginia Ann Johnson, John Nelson Hudson, and
James Harville. Honorary Pallbearers include Judge Gerald B. Tjoflat, Judge J.
Larry Edmondson, Judge R. Lanier Anderson, Judge Phyllis Kravitch, and all other
active and senior Judges of the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th
Circuit; Judge Ira Dement, Judge Truman Hobbs, Judge Myron Thompson, Wendell
Elliott, Rod Nachman, Norman Zoller and all of the former law clerks of Judge
Frank M. Johnson, Jr. Pallbearers will be Edward Badham, Maury Badham Boshell,
Mark Norris, Steve Norris, Judge Joel Dubina, Beth Gordy Dubina, John Sandage,
Bobby Segall, David Vogel, Dr. Laurie Jean Weil, and Helen Harris.
The family is especially
grateful to all of Ruth Johnson's caregivers, especially Jessie Hogan, Lola
Clay, and Hurley Bowie, who provided loving companionship for many years. In
lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the First Baptist Church of Montgomery
Caring Center at 305 S. Perry Street, Montgomery, AL 36104, or to a favorite
charity.
