Mr.
Paul McGuffie, age 84 of Pinson, Alabama, passed away March
24, 2009 at his residence.
Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 27, 2009 at Ridout's Roebuck Chapel
with graveside service following. Burial at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Pinson,
AL. Visitation
5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 26, 2009 at the funeral home.
Paul McGuffie, was born on April 1, 1924,to the late Bert and Lou Etta McGuffie.
Paul was a very devoted husband and father. He was a Sergeant in the Army during
WWII where he was wounded twice and received a Purple Heart with One Oak Leaf
Cluster, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star and a WWII Victory Medal. He was a long
time member of the First Baptist Church of Pinson.
He is survived by 3 daughters, Paula Weems, Sheila Dewees and Angela McGuffie; 2
sons, Brad and Mark McGuffie; 7 grandchildren, Jana Weems Gaither (Jeff), Katie Dewees,
Jay Weems, Michelle Hazelwood (Jim), David and Andrew Dewees and Brittany
Marcum; 4 great grandchildren, Paul "Brady" and Abby Gaither, Ariana Evans-Young
and Eli Hazelwood; 3 sisters, Virginia Johns of Hanceville, Opal Wallace (Ray)
of Texas, Yvonne Latham (Chuck) of Texas; 1 brother, Edgar (Linda) McGuffie of
Trussville; and 2 sisters-in-law, Johnnie McGuffie of Birmingham and Mary
McGuffie of Birmingham; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and a
cherished friend Norma Champion.
Paul was preceeded in death by his wife of 47 years, Helen Webb McGuffie, his
parents, Bert and Lou Etta McGuffie; 1 sister, Geneva Emenheiser; and 4 brothers,
Lawrence McGuffie, Macklin McGuffie, William "Boots" McGuffie, and Larry
McGuffie; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Felix Webb.
