ROBERT LEE COUCH, SR., was promoted to glory on his 87th birthday, March 29,2007.
He was a veteran of World War II. He served with the Army Air Corps, 433 Group, 67th Troop Carrier Squadron, as a medic and saw duty in the Southwest Pacific theatre including New Guinea, Northern Solomon Islands, The Philippines, Bismarck Islands and others. He was one of those special people that are sometimes referred to as the "Greatest Generation" and he served honorably to protect our nation. After military service, he graduated from the University of Alabama with a major in Accounting. He was employed by the U. S. Government for 30 years and subsequently worked with the State of Alabama for five years.
He was a native of Winfield, Alabama and was preceded in death by his parents, Alec and Jeffie Couch, four brothers (Raymond, Delmas, Mack, and Tom), and two sisters (Helen Couch, Merle Couch Yates).
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy Westbrook Couch; three sons, Robert Jr. (Kay) of Tucson, AZ., Michael (Karen), and Ken (Carol) of Birmingham; Grandchildren Leigh Kennedy (Patrick), Amiee Couch, Kimberly Couch, Noel Couch (Mindy); One Great-granddaughter, McKenzie Couch, One brother, Alec, Jr.; seven sisters, Jean Moore, Naomi Waldrop, Ola Nail, Lillian Langston, Dorothy Smith, Erin Burleson, Martha Mims; many nieces and nephews.
Robert is loved by many friends and family members, who were his greatest joys and sense of accomplishment. He accepted Christ as his Savior after WWII, and spent the remainder of his life supporting the cause of Christ. He served the Lord with his financial talents, and also as a Sunday school teacher. He was a charter member of the Eastern Hills Baptist Church in Montgomery, AL and most recently is a member of Huffman Baptist Church. He is a member of the Harvester Sunday School class. He leaves a long legacy of service to our Lord.

Funeral Services will be held at Ridout's Funeral Home, Trussville, AL on Monday, April 2, 2007at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning two hours prior to the service. Burial will be in the Winfield City Cemetery in Winfield, Alabama at 3:00 p.m. that afternoon.
