Jerry Neal Earnest, age 55, of Phenix City, Alabama (formerly of

Hackleburg, AL), passed away Sunday, July 5, 2009 at his residence.

Mr. Earnest was born March 27, 1954 in Dennis, Mississippi.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Virginia Lynch Earnest and his dad,

Talmadge "Pete" Earnest.

He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He served

in the United States Air Forces and was in the Persian Gulf War.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Dian Jackson Earnest;

his daughters, Cynthia Diane Lawler (Leon); Samantha Cheney (Brian)

Mr. Robert Burnley Mixon

Robert Burnley Mixon, age 78, of Suquamish, Washington, formerly of Hamilton,

Alabama, passed away July 1, 2009 in Suquamish, Washington.

Mr. Mixon was born January 4, 1931 in Hamilton, Alabama, to James Henry Mixon

and Gladys Mixon. He graduated from Hamilton High School in 1949 and studied at

the University of Alabama, where he received a BS in 1953. After a tour of duty

with the US Army Corps of Engineers in Korea, he continued his studies of

geology at LSU and received his MS in 1958. His work for Carter Oil then took

him to Wichita, Kansas for two years. He returned to LSU for advanced studies

and received his PhD in geology in 1963. He moved to Washington, DC in 1963 to

become a research geologist for the US Geological Survey specializing in

sedimentary geology and stratigraphy. A shared interest in birding and canoeing

led him to meet his future wife, Krista, whom he married in 1965. He retired

from the USGS in 1998 but continued his work there as scientist emeritus until

2004.

He is survived by his wife, Krista Mixon, of Suquamish, WA; 1 son, Mark and

daughter-in-law, Audranne Mixon of Poulsbo, WA; 1 daughter, Karen and

son-in-law, Anatoly Rosenflanz of St. Paul, MN; 4 grandchildren, Alexander,

Katerina, Thomas and William; and 2 brothers, James Henry Mixon and Stanley

Mixon, both of Hamilton, AL.

Hosch was a 1998 graduate of Sulligent High School, where he was a member of FFA,

the forestry team, high school football team and S.A.D.D. He was also a member

of Bacchus at Bevill State Community College and Overcomers at Sulligent First

Assembly of God. Mr. Hosch was a graduate of the Alabama Teen Challenge Program.

He enjoyed horses, deer hunting and football. Mr. Hosch loved his family most of

all and chasing after God.

He is survived by his parents, Phillip (Helen) Hosch, Sulligent, AL.; his

grandmother, Doris Williams, Sulligent, AL.; 1 sister: Phyllis (Samuel) Potter,

Sulligent, AL.; Fiancée, Ashley Blanton and daughter, Brooklyn, Vernon, AL.; 1

uncle, Jerry (Jinette) Williams, Sulligent, AL.; 1 nephew, Caden Potter,

Sulligent, AL.; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
