Elvie Lee Colburn Johnson

Age 85 | Hamilton, AL

of Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at Marion

Regional Nursing Home in Hamilton.

Funeral service, 1:00 p.m.,

Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Bethlehem Methodist Church. Bro. Greg Cook,

officiating. Burial in Bethlehem Church Cemetery.

Eulogy From Mrs. Johnson's

Church:

Elvie Lee Colburn was born

December 12th, 1922 in Marion County, Alabama. She was the wife of the

late John Ralph Johnson. Her parents were Calvin and Sarah Louisa Nichols

Colburn. She had two brothers, Freeman and Robert and one sister, Belvie

Downs, who preceded her in death. She had two daughters, Sylvia Lee

Holland and Vivian Renee Frederick. She also gave birth to two stillborn

children, one boy and one girl. She had six grandchildren: Barry

Kevan Holland, David Eugene Holland, Brian Jason Holland, John Marshall

Frederick, Marisa Lenore Frederick, and Dylan Keir Frederick. She also had

three great grandchildren, Cory Ryan and Derek Kevan Holland, and Meghan

Holland. She had one great-great grandson, Karson Micah (Wallace) Holland.

Mrs. Johnson was a devoted

wife and mother. She was a homemaker who loved gardening, preparing

home-cooked foods, making homemade quilts and taking care of her two elderly

aunts. But probably most of all, especially in her later years, Mrs.

Johnson enjoyed the company of and caring for her grandchildren, and spoiling

them as much as possible. Another one of Mrs. Johnson's admirable traits

was her generosity. Anyone who came into her home was offered home-made

cooking, and if they left without partaking of this, it was not because of her

lack of insistence. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson had many pets during their

lifetime, yet never acquired one on purpose. Strays and cast-off pets were

"adopted" and taken care of as well as an expensive pet would be by most people.

But most of all, Mrs.

Johnson professed her faith in Jesus Christ, and was a member of this church.

She tried her best to live her life in a Christian manner.
