He was preceded in death by his parents, Sid and Bertha Mae

Black Stidham; his wife, Carnelia Abbott Stidham; 3 brothers, Laudie, Kent, and

Claudia Cook Rye was born

March 10, 1918 in Lamar County, Alabama, the oldest daughter of Marvin S. and

Lomie Clifton Cook. Claudia grew up in south Marion County, Alabama, near

Round Top Church (Mt. Joy Baptist Church, today). She attended Harris and

Byrd Community Schools. In 1940, Claudia married Raymond Rye. Later

in 1956, Claudia went to work as a seamstress at Detroit Slacks in Detroit,

Alabama until she retired after 26 years in 1983.

Claudia was preceded in

death by her infant sister, Ellen Rosana Cook and by her parents, Marvin and

Lomie Cook. Her husband, Raymond Rye died in 1987, and her brother,

Ethridge Cook, died in 2003.

Claudia is survived by her

daughter, Joyce Rye Kasberg, her son-in-law, John D. Kasberg, and four brothers:

Cecil (Agile) Cook and J.C. (Ethel) Cook of Adrian, Michigan; John W. Cook of

Fultondale, Alabama; Leon (Leola) Cook of Foley, Alabama; sister, Lorene Cook

Carter, of Statesboro, Georgia; sister-in-law, Ruby Gann Cook, of Fultondale,

Alabama; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He is survived by his wife,

Eula Pitts; 1 daughter, Sandy Cox; 2 sons, Ken (Barb) Pitts, and Troy Pitts; 3

grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Erma King; 1 brother, Myran

Pitts; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by

Mrs. Tice was a devoted wife, loving mother, precious mamaw and adored great-mamaw.

She was a devout Christian, living her life daily for the Lord. She was a

founding member of the First Assembly of God Church in Hamilton. She was

employed for several years at Tollgate Factory.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gaston Tice, and a sister, Quilla

Terrell.

Those left to cherish her memories are daughter, Sharon Clark (Otis), Muscle

Shoals, AL; son, Michael Tice (late Sandy Tice), Hamilton, AL.; and daughter,

Sandra Webster Seals of Winfield, AL. Two sisters, Robbie Emerson (Leo),

Hamilton, AL., and Freddie Lolley (Junior), of Hackleburg, AL. She had 7

employee of Munsingwear in Hamilton, Alabama.

She has three children,

Eugene, Shirley and David; eight grandchildren, Starr Lockwood, Chip Stidham,

Dace Stidham, Sonya Justice, Joy Ashford, Nicole Bailey, Stephanie Twylffort,

and Tony Comer; thirteen great grandchildren, Seth Lockwood, Megan Hayes, Dan

Lockwood, Sarah, Hanna, Caleb Twylffort, Chase Comer, Ashley, Aaron, Addison

Justice, Brittney and Drew Ashford, Kayli Stidham; and one great-great

grandchild, Rylan Hayes.

Conveyor and was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.

(December 11, 1920 - December 29, 2008)

Buren Ballard, 88, of Bay, Arkansas, died Monday afternoon, December 29, 2008,

at his home. He was born December 11, 1920, in Hodges, Alabama but had lived

most of his life in Bay, AR. He was a member of the Bay First Baptist Church

where he served as deacon. At one time he was the chair of the deacons. He also

enjoyed fishing, hunting, and loved farming; loved the smell of the dirt. Mr.

Ballard was a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his

daughters and son-in-law, Charles & Linda Ballard Glass, Jonesboro, AR., Sherry

Ballard Liggett, Bay, AR.; a sister, Mary Lou Ballard Williams and her husband

Johnny, San Angelo, Texas; grandchildren, Melissa Rebstock, David Glass, Amber

Stone, April Liggett; great grandchildren, Jared Stover, Skye Stover, Caitlyn

Glass, and Gibson Glass.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Ballard and his parents, Ben Harris

& Melissa Nichols Ballard.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at

the Bay First Baptist Church with Brother Danny Taylor officiating. Emerson

Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Burial will take place on Friday,

January 2, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery ( Map ) in Hodges, Alabama.

Active pallbearers will be Lynn Scott, Elbert Bradford, Mike Bradford, Carbert

Rodgers, Bobby Turman, Mark Travis, Randy Mink, Quillion Vincent, Brett Scott,

Brandy Scott, Michael Ashlock, and David Carter.

Honorary pallbearers will be Loyd Nix, Bill Stone, Donny Liggett, Alton Holmes,

Members of the Sure Shot Hunting Club, Randy Skaggs, and Alvin Hill.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, December 30, 2008, from 6:00 - 8:00

p.m. at Bay First Baptist Church, in Bay, Arkansas.

Petie Ingle

Age 74 | Guin, AL

of Guin, AL died Sunday, December 21, 2008 in the

Northwest Medical Center in Winfield, AL.

Born in Guin, AL. He is the Son of the late Thayer and Conelia Berryhill Ingle.

He had lived in Guin most of his life was owner of Ingle's Cable Company and a

member of the Guin First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his Wife, Ruth Franks Ingle of Guin, AL, A Daughter, Judy

(Bobby) Ledbetter of New Market, AL A Son, Brian (Jan) Ingle of Florence, Al and

2 Grand Daughters, April and Leslie Ledbetter.

Services held Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at 11:00 AM from the Norwood Funeral

Home Chapel with burial in the Guin City Cemetery. Bro. John Hambright

officiating.

George Thomas Castle

Age 62 | Sulligent, AL

of Sulligent, Alabama died Wednesday, December 24,

2008 at his residence.

He was born in Greenville, MS to the late Roe Thomas and Carrie Mae Walden

Castle. He was a truck driver, Mr. Castle Hauled the US Mail for eleven years

and was of the Baptist Faith.

Survived by his Wife: Deborah Gosa Castle of Sulligent, AL, Four Sons: Billy

(Cynthia) Castle, Jason Castle and Ryan Castle all of Sulligent, AL, Tommy

(Andre) Castle of Amory, MS, One Daughter: Georgia Castle Easter of Sulligent,

Al, Three Grandsons: Michael Easter, Tyler Castle and Dillon Castle, Two Grand

Daughters: Brittany Easter and Megan Castle, Two step Grandsons; Cody Wright and

Justin Sheely, One step Grand Daughter Bethany Sheely.

Preceded in death by his Parents and an infant Daughter Tabitha Ann Castle.

Memorial Services held Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 6:00 P.M. from the Norwood

Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Keith Rudy officiating.

Margel Joan Guyton

Age 75 | Hamilton, AL

of Hamilton, Alabama died Wednesday, December 17, 2008

at her residence.

She was born in Mindota, Missouri in Putnam County to Loyd and Marrie Morris

Shadden. She loved her children, grandchildren and family. Margel loved

antiques, motorcycle riding, four wheelers, and was a gun marksman. She was also

manager of the Marion County Lake for Many Years along with her husband James E.

Guyton, and both were of the Baptist Faith.

Survived by her Husband: James E. Guyton of Hamilton, AL, Four Sons: Michael

Guyton of Moline, IL, Terry Guyton and Rick Guyton both of Huntsville, AL and

Perry Guyton of Bessemer, AL, Four Sisters: Barbara Veach , Deloris Frizzle,

Betty McClain and Pat Shadden, Three Brothers: Billy Shadden and Dick Shadden of

Moline, IL and Bob Shadden of Davenport, Iowa, Eight Grandchildren and Six Great

Grandchildren and a host of Nieces and Nephews and other family members.

Proceeded in death by her Parents: Loyd and Marrie Morris Shadden, Two Sisters:

Jean Shadden and Wanda Shadden and One Brother: Tom Shadden.

Services held Monday, December 22, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. from the Norwood Funeral
