Mr. Larry "Loco Larry" Paul O'Briant, age 60, of Amory, MS passed away on
Friday, August 29, 2008 at Gilmore Memorial Hospital in Amory.
Funeral services, Monday,
September 1, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with burial in
the Liberty Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Detroit. Mr. Charles Gill,
officiating minister. Visitation, at the residence located at 210 5th Avenue
South in Amory on Sunday evening from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. Serving as active
pallbearers, Heath Cantrell, Brian Haithcock, Michael White, Rick Loyd, Mike
Loyd and Keith White. Serving as honorary pallbearers, Doctors and employees of
Gilmore Memorial Hospital.
Mr. O'Briant was born on March 1, 1948 in Greenville, MS to the late Ellis Wayne
and Erma Fay Sterns O'Briant. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in
Amory. He was a graduate of Delta State University and did his internship in New
Orleans, LA. Mr. O'Briant had previously worked as a Certified Registered Nurse
Anesthetist at Gilmore Memorial Hospital. He served as the Great Grand Duke of
Hobo Historians and enjoyed traveling. Mr. O'Briant collected medical
instruments and did pioneering in different towns. He was instrumental in
raising 14 local area children.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte O'Briant, Amory, MS; 2 daughters, Crystal
(Byron) Cantrell, Beaverton, AL., and Serena (Keith) White, Booneville, MS.; 6
grandchildren, Heath Cantrell, Paige Cantrell, Brian Haithcock, Alisha Inmon,
Katelann White, Michael White; 2 sisters, Patsy (Benny) Wilson, Florence, AL.,
and Janie (Ken) Smith, Lauderdale Lakes, FL.; and a host of nieces, nephews and
other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis Wayne and Erma Fay Sterns
O'Briant; and 1 brother, Dennis Wayne O'Briant.
