* (History of Huffman School: Huffman

School (in the Cooper Community) was a one room school for all ages, with one

teacher. It was heated with a big wood heater, also the children gathered

wood to use and went across the road and down the hill to a spring where they

filled a bucket with water for all the children and teacher to drink that

day...all out of the same dipper.

Due to the lack of local church buildings, it was then

used on Sunday for a church, with a variety of different denomination preachers.

Due to the lack of local church buildings, this is where Sarah first joined the

church. Later she moved her membership to Cooper Church when the first

church building was built at the old cemetery. Her membership still

remains there.)
