	Beth Robinson Burchfield ( Class of 1989 ) - She is a 1989 graduate of Brilliant High School. As a Lady Tiger, Burchfield was a standout member of the school's basketball, volleyball, and softball squads. As a senior, Burchfield was honored with the school's Senior Player Award in basketball and volleyball. She was also presented with the Permanent Captain Award for her efforts on the basketball court. Through-out her athletic career at Brilliant High School, Burchfield garnered many awards, including numerous all-county, all-conference, and offensive and defensive awards in basketball, volleyball and softball. Burchfield was also a member of the school's marching band from 1983-1987 and cheerleading squad in 1986 and 1987. After graduation, Burchfield attended Brewer State Junior College where she repeatedly made the President's List and earned her associates degree. She would later attend the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Burchfield is currently employed as a licensed realtor at Hamner Real Estate in Tuscaloosa, where she has sold residential real estate for the past 10 years. She recently married Tuscaloosa-native Spencer Burchfield and has two step-daughters, Julia and Allison. Last year Burchfield gave birth to her first child, Spence, who turned a year old. She is also due to give birth to a daughter in August. Burchfield and her family are members of Christ Episcopal Church of Tuscaloosa.
	Harold Cotton ( Class of 1963 ) - Harold Cotton is a 1963 graduate of Brilliant High School. Cotton was a standout football player for the Tigers, lettering for varsity squad for four years. During his time on the football team, Cotton was instructed by Tiger coaches Glendon Gibbs, Max A. Wood, and Gene Dickinson. During his team's 1962 season, Brilliant won the Marion County championship by defeating each Marion County team. Their only loss of the season was to Lamar County by the score of 7-6 with a disputed call on the field being the difference. Since school classifications were a thing of the future at the time, the Tigers were designated as co-state champions, along with Addison. During his playing days, Cotton scored many touchdowns, but perhaps none of which were as important as his go-ahead touchdown that sealed a victory over Winfield. As a defensive back, Cotton intercepted 12 passes, which at the time was two interceptions short of the Alabama state record. During his time as a football player for the Tigers, Cotton was honored with numerous all-county and all-conference selections. Cotton has lived in the Brilliant area all of his adult life. He retired from working in the coal mines in 2001. For several years, he was involved in the booster club to support Brilliant athletics. He also coached little-league baseball and pee-wee football while his children were in school. Cotton has three children. His daughter, Crystal Nelson, is currently the softball coach at BHS. His son, Darren, is the Tigers head basketball and assistant football coach. His son, Wesley, has a roofing business and lives in Yampertown.
	Bobby Elliott ( Class of 1966 ) - Bobby Elliott is a 1966 graduate of Brilliant High School. During his time as a Tiger, Elliott participated in the school's football, baseball, and basketball programs. Elliott was the football team's quarterback and played safety on the defensive side of the football. Elliott was also a captain of the basketball squad, on which he received all-county honors as a junior high, B-team, and varsity player. He was also honored as an all-area player during his varsity years. As a senior, Elliott served as the student government president and was elected as Mr. BHS. After graduation, Elliott attended Northwest Alabama Junior College for two years before transferring to the University of North Alabama. Elliott, who is a Vietnam veteran, served with the 101st Airborne Infantry during the war. He is also retired from the 877th Engineering Battalion Alabama National Guard. Elliott is a retiree of the Drummond Coal Company, where he worked until 2000. Elliott and his wife, Barbara, have been married for 39 years and currently reside in Guin. They have two children, Carla and Darrell.
	Mark Franks ( Class of 1978 ) - Mark Franks is a 1978 graduate of Brilliant High School. During his time as a Tiger, Franks lettered in football, basketball, baseball, and track and field. As a football player, Franks was selected as an all-conference performer in 1976-77, all-county in 1977, all-state honorable mention in 1977, and was selected as the team's captain his senior season. As a basketball player, Franks was selected to all-county teams in 1977-78. Franks was chosen to compete in the East-West All-Star game and was selected as an all-conference performer in baseball in 1978. Franks was also selected as an all-WAC and all-county performer in four track and field events: the one-mile run, cross country, shot-put, and discus throw. After his graduation from BHS, Franks attended the University of Alabama and eventually transferred to the University of North Alabama where he attained a secondary education degree in biology and physical education. Franks began his graduate school work at the University of Alabama at Birmingham then transferred to the University of Montevallo, where he received a masters degree in educational leadership and school administration. Franks began his teaching career at Carbon Hill High School in 1982. In 1989, the Brilliant graduate returned to his alma mater. While at the school, Franks was honored with the 1991 North Alabama Conference Basketball Coach of the Year award. He was also named as the 1991 Marion County Football Coach of the Year. In 1992, Franks claimed the NAC Football Coach of the Year Award and was once again named the county's coach of the year. In 1993, Franks moved to John Carroll Catholic High School, Where he continued to notch coaching accolades, including the Birmingham News Metro and Birmingham Post-Herald football coach of the year awards. Since that time, Franks spent three years at Gardendale High School, two years at Shelby County's Alternative School, and two years at Hillcrest Middle School. In 2005, Franks received a job as the assistant principal at Brookwood Middle School in Vance, where he is currently employed today. Franks and his wife, Allie, have two children. His daughter, Laken, is 17 years old. His son, Landon, is 11 years old.
	Thomas W. Kimbrell ( Special Category ) - Thomas W. Kimbrell was selected to the Marion County Hall of Fame under a special category. Kimbrell has served as a Tiger manager for the football, basketball, and baseball teams. He performed many duties for the Brilliant athletic department, such as field and gymnasium maintenance, the cleaning of locker rooms, and the operation of scoreboards for football and basketball games. Kimbrell's face was a recognizable one as he was often one of the first to arrive and one of the last to leave Tiger sporting events. As a retiree, Kimbrell spends a lot of his time fishing and spending time with his wife, two children, and four grandchildren.
	Tim Pollard ( Class of 1976 ) - Tim Pollard is a 1977 graduate of Brilliant High School. Pollard was a standout performer for the Tiger’s football team as a halfback and linebacker. As a sophomore, Pollard was honored as the most improved player of the football team. He would go on to start and play in 35 consecutive football games from 1974-76. Pollard was named as an all-conference linebacker and an all-county halfback during his senior season. In his junior season, Pollard led his team in tackles and was also given the team’s headhunter award. He was also voted a defensive captain that year and his senior year. During his senior year, Pollard scored 10 touchdowns, padding his statistics from the previous season. As a student, Pollard was voted vice president his senior year, by his fellow students. He was a member of the Future Farmers of America for five years, B-Club for three years, was voted class favorite in his sophomore year and was voted Most Masculine during his senior year. Pollard, who still resides in Brilliant, is the son of Jerry Pollard.

	Bobby D. Cockrum ( Class of 1954 ) - Bobby D. Cockrum is a 1954 graduate of Hackleburg Schools. Cockrum Lettered in varsity football and baseball during each of his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons. He was a part of the Panthers' undefeated 1953 football team. After his departure from the school, Cockrum received an invitation from the Pittsburgh Pirates to attend the team's pitching tryouts. He also received an invitation to walk-on to the Florence State Teachers College's football team. In 1966, while living in Adamsville, Cockrum began coaching little league baseball and soon after little league football, which was non-existent in the town up until that point. He continues to be involved in the program, having served as a coach, athletic director, vice president of the Alabama Youth football League, chairman of the rules committee in the league, Commissioner of the Adamsville Football Program, and member of the board of directors. The City of Adamsville was especially thankful to Cockrum for his contributions to their sports programs, and renamed their school's football stadium Cockrum Field for all of his hard work and dedication for the youth of that area. Cockrum is currently the city's park director and assistant coach for his youngest grandson's football team. In 2006, Cockrum and his wife, Onease, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They have five children, 12 grandchildren, and two great-grandsons with one great-granddaughter on the way.
	Amber Deline ( Class of 1999 ) - Amber Deline is a 1999 graduate of Hackleburg Schools. Although Deline was an all-county, all-area, and all-conference player in softball that helped the Lady Panthers reach the state playoffs in 1994 and 1998, she is most remembered for her dominance on the basketball court. From 1993 until 1999, Deline made all-conference, all-county, and all-area teams each year. Deline is also a four-time all-regional selection in basketball. She was also selected to the all-state tournament team in 1994 and 1998. She was also on the all-state second team in 1994 Deline was declared the Marion County Tournament most valuable player from 1995-1999. Among her other high school accomplishments, almost too numerous to list, are two-time Northwest Regional Tournament MVP, Alabama Miss Basketball candidate, Class 2A Player of the Year finalist, Birmingham News Super Senior, Alabama/Mississippi All-Star Game selection, and Wendy’s Heisman Alabama state finalist. In her career, Deline scored 2,637 points, which is a school record. She also is the school’s rebound record holder. Deline led the Lady Panthers to five county championships, five North Alabama Conference championships, three area championships, two Northwest Regional championships, two Northwest Regional runner-up finishes, and two final four appearances. Deline graduated from the University of North Alabama in 2003, where she was a four-year starter. While on the team, she was named conference freshman of the year in her division. She was also named to four all-conference teams, the freshman all-America team, all-south regional team, two all-academic teams, and all-tournament teams. During her senior year, Deline set five school records, including leading scorer, rebounder, most free throws made and attempted, and scoring in double-figures. Deline is currently an assistant women’s basketball coach at Samford University. From 2003-06, she was an assistant basketball coach at the University of Montevallo.
	Joey Ingle ( Class of 1977 ) - Joey Ingle is a 1977 graduate of Hackleburg Schools, During his time as a Panther, Ingle was a three-sport athlete. He played football, basketball, and baseball. Ingle played quarterback, running back, and defensive back on the football team for coach Gary Smith from 1973-1976. He played varsity basketball during the same time-span and became a three-year starter for the Panthers after making the all-area tournament team during his freshman season. Ingle averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds under coach Ronnie Anglin, playing a wing/forward position. He won numerous all-county and all-area awards and was chosen by his teammates as most valuable player. During his senior season, Ingle was selected as the team captain. Ingle played first base and outfield under coach Gary Smith for four years on the baseball team. During his junior and senior seasons, Ingle led the team in batting with a .400 average each season. He was also chosen as MVP and team captain during his senior season by his teammates. After his graduation, Ingle attended Northwest Junior College for two years before he moved on to the University of North Alabama, where he earned his degree. Ingle earned his masters degree in recreation administration from the University of Mississippi in 1983. In 1980, Ingle married his high school sweetheart, the former Jackie Cox, who was the 1979 Miss Hackleburg High School. Ingle and his wife have two sons, Parker and Hunter, who both graduated from Tupelo (MS) High School.
	L.C. Mitchell ( Class of 1958 ) - L. C. Mitchell is a 1958 graduate of Hackleburg Schools. As a Panther lineman on the football squad, Mitchell played in 39 games. He started in 30 of the games and played on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Mitchell was voted the Most Valuable Lineman on the team in 1957 and 1958. Mitchell’s high school achievements on the field did not go unrecognized. Livingston State College offered him a full scholarship. The University of Alabama tempted Mitchell with a partial scholarship. Mitchell, however, elected to join the United States Marine Corps instead. Mitchell, who currently resides in Hackleburg, is a retired manufactured homes plant supervisor. He currently owns and operates an antiques store in Double Springs. The business gives Mitchell time to pursue his main hobby, the collection of antiques.
	Patrick James Odom ( Class of 1994 ) - Patrick James Odom is a 1994 graduate of Hackleburg Schools. Odom was a standout baseball and basketball player for the Panthers. Odom was selected to the all-county and all-conference teams in baseball in each of his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons. He was also selected at the team’s most valuable player in 1993 and 1994. Odom was also an all-county, all-conference, and all-area performer in basketball during his junior, sophomore, and senior seasons. He was the team’s MVP each of the three years. During his basketball career under coach Ronnie Anglin, Odom scored 1,591 points, helping to guide the Panthers into the playoffs for four consecutive years. He was also an honorable mention as an all-state performer during his junior and senior season. After his graduation, Odom attended Northwest-Shoals Community College, where he played basketball for coach Bill Moss for two years. During his sophomore season, he averaged 11.2 points per game. In 1998, Odom graduated from the University of North Alabama with an education degree. He began his coaching career as an assistant to Anglin at Hackleburg in 1997. In 1999, Odom accepted the head basketball coaching position at Shoals Christian School in Florence. During his first season, he led the Flames to a 23-1 record and the school’s first CSAC (Christian School Athletic Conference) championship. In 2001, Odom accepted the head football and athletic director position at Shoals Christian. That same year, he led the team to its first CSAC football championship. Since that time, Shoals Christian has become a member of the Alabama High School Athletic Association and his basketball team has won championships in 2005, 2006, and 2007. The team also appeared in the Northwest Regional championship game in 2005. Odom also serves as an assistant baseball coach for the Flames and has watched the team appear in two state championships. Odom’s wife, Kayla, is also a graduate of Hackleburg Schools and the University of North Alabama. They are expecting their first child in October
	Betty Taylor Quinn ( Special Category) - Betty Taylor Quinn was selected to the Marion County Hall of Fame in the special category for her contributions to Panther athletics. Quinn began teaching in Hackleburg in 1969 under principal Emmitt Ray. During that same year, she worked at her first ball game collecting admissions. She continued working during basketball and football games for the next 31 years without missing a game. After closing the gates, Quinn helped out with concessions in order to support the athletic clubs. Quinn also served as a cheerleader sponsor for several years at the school. Quinn has taught Title One reading at Hackleburg Schools for the past seven years. Although she still works games for the Panthers, Quinn is not able to attend every game as she used to, but she was able to witness her Panther baseball team bring home a state championship this year.

	Vic Armstrong ( Class of 1988 ) - Vic Armstrong is a 1988 graduate of Hamilton High School. Armstrong was a three-sport letterman during his days as an Aggie athlete in football, baseball, and basketball. He was one of the basketball team’s leading scorers and rebounders. As a sophomore, Armstrong was a starter on the 1985 Aggie squad that lost only two games to eventual state champions. He pitched for four seasons on the Aggie baseball team. Armstrong carried a lifetime earned run average of less than 2.00. He earned more than 35 decision during that time and lost less than 10 games. Armstrong also pitched five no-hitters during his time on the mound. He was also a leading hitter and home run leader during his last two seasons. Six of his eight playoff appearances on the mound were victories. He was also elected to be a part of the West Alabama High School All-Star Baseball Team in 1988. Armstrong was an all-county and all-tournament performer in basketball, as well. He was the Aggies’ most valuable player in 1987. After his graduation, Armstrong attended Itawamba Community College in Fulton, MS. He was a member of the school’s baseball team at that time. Armstrong currently resides in Hamilton and enjoys playing softball, fishing and spending time with his wife and children.
	J.O. Brooks, M.D. ( Special Category ) - Dr. James Otis “J. O.” Brooks was selected to the Hall of Fame in the special category. Brooks was born in Hackleburg on August 22, 1910. After his graduation from Hamilton High School, Brooks attended Birmingham Southern College before entering the University of Alabama, from which he graduated in 1929. Between college and medical school, Brooks taught chemistry, physics, and coached football at Phillips High School in Bear Creek. At the age of 23, Brooks graduated at the top of his class at the University of Tennessee’s medical school. In 1933, Brooks married Guin native Inez Singleton and they had five daughters together: Sara Angeline, Martha Jo, Margaret Anne, Mary Pride, and Betty Jane. After Brooks and his family moved back to Hamilton in 1939, he became the only doctor within the immediate area, including the surrounding counties. He spent years taking care of his patients in Hamilton during the day and traveling to the surrounding counties at night. In 1946, Brooks opened his 20-bed clinic and hospital in Hamilton and practiced medicine there until his untimely death in 1972. Brooks, an avid hunter and fisherman, dearly loved the game of football. He not only coached for the Phillips Bears, but also scouted for the University of Alabama. In the mid-1960s, Brooks was honored at a Hamilton Aggies Football Banquet for “over 30 years of service as the team physician”, and was given a letter sweater that had the words “Team Doc” knitted into it. Brooks, who could be seen wearing the sweater during Aggie games, continued serving as the team’s physician until his death almost a decade later.
	Brian Gunnels ( Class of 1990 ) - Brian Gunnels is a 1990 graduate of Hamilton High School. Gunnels was a standout on the Aggies basketball squad, leading his team to a Class 5A Final Four appearance during his senior season. Throughout his varsity career, he was an all-conference, all-area, and all-county performer. Gunnels was named to the All-Shades Valley Tournament team. He was also named the most valuable player of the Western Athletic Conference Tournament. After guiding his team to the Final Four in his senior season, Gunnels was named to the Class 5A All-State Tournament Team. He was also selected to the regular season Class 5A All-State Team. Gunnels was also given the title of the Aggies’ most valuable player, scoring over 1,000 points in his high school career. After his graduation, Gunnels attended Itawamba Community College in Mississippi. In 1992, Gunnels transferred to Henderson State University. During his time at the school, Gunnels was named to the All-Gulf South Conference Team. He was also voted team captain by his fellow players. Gunnels set a school record at the university by hitting 90 three-pointers in one season. Gunnels, who currently lives in Conway, Ark., has been married to his wife, Tabatha, for 13 years. They have three children, Megan, Jared, and Jessica. Gunnels is currently employed as vice president of Crews & Associates Investment Company.
	Harry Holloway ( Class of 1993 ) - Harry Holloway is a 1993 graduate of Hamilton High School. During his time as an aggie, Holloway played football, baseball and was a member of the school’s track and field team. While on the Aggie football team, Holloway played slot back, fullback, wide receiver, and defensive back. He was an all-conference and all-county performer in 1991 and 1992. In 1991, Holloway received an all-state honorable mention as a wide receiver. Holloway was also named the team’s most valuable player in 1992. As a senior, Holloway had more than 1,200 total yards and 15 touchdowns in eight games. He was also named the state’s player of the week for gaining 376 total yards against Walker County. After his graduation, Holloway attended the University of North Alabama on a football scholarship. He played slot back and kick returner for the Lions and was a member of each of the school’s three consecutive Division II nation championship teams from 1993 – 1995. Holloway averaged five yards per carry and 14 yards per reception during his college career. He was also named special teams player of the week three times during his senior season. Holloway was ranked 12th nationally in kickoff returns during his final year as a Lion. Holloway is currently employed at River Birch Homes in Hackleburg. He and his wife of five years, the former Amy May, have a two-year-old son, Trey
	Roger L. Mays ( Class of 1958 ) - Roger L. Mays is a 1958 graduate of Hamilton High School. Mays was a three-sport athlete for each of his four years in high school. He was the captain of the 1957 Aggie football team on which he played both offensive and defensive end. The team’s record was 34 wins, 4 losses, and 2 ties while Mays was a part of the program. The aggies scored 1,031 points, while allowing only 238 points scored during the four-year period. In 1957, Mays set a school record with six consecutive extra-points kicked in one game. Mays was named to all-area and all county teams for his efforts on the football field. He received a scholarship to Memphis State, now the University of Memphis, but chose to attend Florence State instead. Mays played catcher for the Aggie baseball team. During his senior season, Mays held a batting average of .517. He was also a guard and forward on the Aggie basketball squad. During his time at Florence State, now the University of North Alabama, Mays was able to play defensive end for the Lions for a short period of time. After college, Mays began working for General Electric, where he spent 21 years filling various financial management positions for the company. He also served on the company’s corporate office staff in Connecticut. Later, Mays would serve as president of a marketing firm for 10 years before starting a private business. Mays currently resides in Hamilton and is employed part-time by the Marion County Board of Education. Mays and his wife, Jane, have two children, Diana Simmons, and Greg Mays. Mays is also the proud grandfather of five.
	Penny Peoples Rushing ( Class of 1985 ) - Penny Peoples Rushing is a 1985 graduate of Hamilton High School. Rushing was a three-sport athlete in basketball, softball, and track and field. She was a four-year member of the Lady Aggie basketball squad. Rushing was a three-time all-county, two-time all-area, and three-time all tournament performer. She was named as co-captain of the team twice and led her team in free throws made twice. During her senior season, Rushing was named the Lady Aggies’ team captain and most valuable player. She also led the team in rebounding. Rushing accepted a two-year basketball scholarship to Wallace State in Hanceville after her graduation. In 1986, she led the team in free-throw percentage. Currently living in Hamilton, Rushing is employed with Waverlee Homes while attending Bevill State Community College. She enjoys spending time with her three children, Jessica, Kristen, and Jaycob.

	James "Squirrel" Atkinson ( Class of 1969 ) - James Atkinson graduated from Marion County High School in 1969, excelling in baseball and football. During his athletic career, he earned 11 varsity letters in football, baseball, and basketball. Atkinson played football for four years, starting as a two-way player on both offense and defense. He was named Best Offensive Player in 1967 and was the team’s captain during his senior season. In a 58-26 victory over then arch-rival Hamilton, Atkinson scored three touchdowns. Atkinson excelled in baseball as well, earning six varsity letters while starting at second base, beginning in his seventh-grade year. He had a career .362 batting average and was selected to play in the East-West All-Star Game. Atkinson also had the opportunity to play college baseball. Atkinson worked for Chevron Mining for 33 years. He is the son of the late Troy and Nettie Atkinson. Atkinson has two daughters, Dawn Dyar and Renee Bray. He also has three grandsons.
	Larry C. Couch ( Class of 1972 ) - Larry G. Couch is a 1972 graduate of Marion County High School. While at the school, Couch was a five-year member of the Red Raiders football team, a four-year member of the school’s baseball team, and five-year member of the Red Raiders basketball squad. Couch was a member of the school’s 1971 state championship team. He was named as an all-state and all-conference performer during his senior season. He was also an all-state honorable mention the same year in basketball. Couch was also a three-year track-and-field athlete at the school. Couch is currently employed with the P & M Coal Company and owns Horizons Restaurant in Fayette.
	Billy Roy Palmer ( Class of 1953 ) - Billy Roy Palmer is a 1953 graduate of Marion County High School. Palmer played a variety of position for the school’s football team, including quarterback, running back, safety, and punt returner. Palmer was also on the school’s baseball team for one year, the only year the school had a team during the time Palmer was there. In fact, it was during Palmer’s eighth-grade year that he was on the team. Palmer was a starting pitcher for the Red Raiders’ baseball squad. He would go on to play baseball in an amateur league after his graduation. In 1956, Palmer’s team won the Marion and Fayette County League championship under manager Roy Baird. From 1959-1962, Palmer was on a team that won two Alabama-Mississippi League championships. In 1963, Palmer pitched for manager L.C. Fowler in the Carbon Hill Walker County League. The team also won the championship that year. Palmer is a retiree of 3M, where he worked for 34 years. He spends much of his time playing golf, which has become a hobby after his retirement. Palmer and his wife, Wilma Atkins Palmer, have two daughters, Kathy Miles and Kim Howe, and three granddaughters, Whitney Howe, Courtney Howe, and Lindsay Miles. Palmer is a member of the Liberty Free Will Baptist Church of Guin.
	Barry Peoples ( Special Category ) - Barry Peoples was selected for the Hall of Fame in the Special Category. Peoples held the positions of head football coach, head basketball coach, and athletic director for Marion County High School from 1993-2005. As the Red Raiders football coach, Peoples led his team to four Northwest Alabama Championships and four county championships. Peoples was also named as the NAC Coach of the Year and Marion County Coach of the Year four times In 2002, he was selected to coach in the North-South All-Star Game. The Red Raiders’ football squad went 78-52 under the guidance of Peoples. As the head basketball coach for the Red Raiders, Peoples led his team to eight NAC tournament championships, one Marion County Tournament Championship, one Northwest Regional Championship, and one regional runner-up finish. In 1997, his team reached the state Final Four. Peoples is a seven-time conference coach of the year and two-time Marion County Coach of the Year. His overall record as the school’s basketball coach is 192-137. Peoples has also coached boys basketball at Curry and Ragland High Schools and made an appearance in the 1990 State Final Four. Peoples is currently coaching basketball at Hamilton High School and serves as offensive coordinator for the Aggies’ football squad. He and his wife, Sheila, have been married for 15 years. Sheila is a teacher at Winfield Middle School. Peoples’ daughter, Sarah, graduated from Marion County High School earlier this year as valedictorian and will attend the University of Alabama this fall.
	Steve Sanders ( Class of 1987 ) - Steve Sanders is a 1987 graduate of Marion County High School. Sanders was a three-sport athlete for the Red Raiders, playing football, basketball, and baseball. During his time at the school, Sanders was named to the all-county baseball team twice, the all-county basketball team twice, all-county tournament basketball team three times, all-area basketball team twice, all-conference basketball team once and the all-county baseball team once. Sanders received the offensive player award for his performance on the baseball team during his junior and senior seasons. During his senior year, he was named as the baseball, basketball and football teams’ most valuable player. He received the Billy Gene Franks “Tubby” Award, was named the basketball team’s captain, and was selected to play in the Alabama Lions Club East/West All/Star game. After his graduation, Sanders attended Livingston University, where he played on the school’s baseball team. Sanders would go on to attend the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. The Red Raider would eventually return to his old high school as a volunteer baseball coach in 2006 and 2007. Sanders is currently employed at 3M in Guin as a materials control analyst. He and his wife, Tammy, have been married for 15 years and have two sons, Hunter and Jacob.
	Karen Mobley Wilemon ( Class of 1983 ) - Karen Mobley Wilemon is a 1983 graduate of Marion County High School.<br>Wilemon played on the Lady Red Raiders’ basketball squad for six years. During that time, she was named to all-area and all-conference basketball teams.<br>Wilemon also received the team’s Best Defensive Player Award and was one of the best free-throw shooters on the team.<br>Wilemon was her graduating class’s salutatorian. She was also a participant in the school’s band for six years, a majorette for four years, and was crowned as Miss MCHS.<br>After her graduation, she attended Brewer Junior College for two years. She then transferred to Auburn University. Wilemon made the Dean’s List at both schools.<br>After college, Wilemon went on to teach and coach at Falkville High School.<br>Her volleyball squad, which she coached for five years, finished as area champions one year and regional tournament winner two years.<br>Wilemon has coached cross country for three years. During that time, her team has finished as county champions, section champions, and state runner-up.<br>In 2007, her indoor track and field team won the boys Class 1A-4A state championship. Her girls team finished as state runner-up the same year.<br>Wilemon’s outdoor track and field team has won numerous county and section championships. In 2001, her girls track team finished as state champions. Her boys team won the same title in 2007. Her teams have also placed as state runners-up numerous times.<br>Wilemon is currently teaching biology and chemistry at Falkville High School.<br>Wilemon and her husband, Keith, have two sons, Jace and Cade.

	Bret Barnett ( Class of 1995 ) - Brett Barnett is a 1993 graduate of Phillips High School. Barnett lettered four years in football, basketball, and baseball for the Bears. He was also a two-year member of the school’s track and field team. In football, Barnett received the team’s most valuable player award for three consecutive years. He was also the team’s captain as a senior. During the same season, Barnett made the all-state second team and was given a spot in the lemming’s “Top National Recruits Magazine”. He received numerous all-county, all-conference, and all-area honors throughout his football career at Phillips. He was also named the North Alabama Player of the Week as a junior with a 19 carry, 275 yard rushing, and four touchdown performance in one game. Barnett was also a standout basketball player at the school. He was the team’s most valuable player and captain his senior season. Barnett led his team in points scored and was voted the team’s best defensive player three years in a row. He broke the school record for most points area, and all-conference honors in basketball. In baseball, Barnett led the team in batting average and homeruns for two years. He also received the Golden Glove Award and the Hustle Award. Barnett was Phillips’ Mr. Track star. H was one of three individuals to break the state record for the 100-meter dash in state qualifying with a time of 10.9 seconds. He would go on to finish fifth in the 100 meters and sixth in the 200 meters at the state event. Barnett was also a standout student. He was the salutatorian of his senior class and was chosen as Mr. PHS. Barnett walked on to play football at the University of North Alabama. He eventually transferred to Athens State University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in just over three years. Barnett, who lives in Pelham, is currently employed as the Alabama District Manager for Condor Capital Corporation, a leading financial auto institution based out of Hicksville, New York.
	Jerry Camp ( Class of 1984 ) - Jerry Camp is a 1984 graduate of Phillips High School. Although Camp had lived out-of-state for a few years, he returned to Bear Creek for his junior and senior years of high school. The two years were enough for Camp to Leave his mark. As a member of the school’s basketball team, Camp made the all-area team twice, all-county team twice, all-conference team twice, and was the Area 14 most valuable player in 1984. He was also the team’s most valuable player and was selected to the all-state 1st team in basketball. Camp was also the MVP of the school’s track and field squad, setting several school records. He was an all-county and all-conference performer during his junior and senior seasons. Camp competed in several state track and field events, including the 100-yard dash, 220-yard dash, 440-yard dash, high jump, long jump, and shot put. After his graduation, Camp attended Northwest Community College for two years. At the age of 31, Camp became the Casual Furniture Industries’ youngest president and CEO. He was named to the position for Winsloew’s Casual Division, which covered six companies in six states. At the age of 33, he was voted as one of the Top 40 CEOs in America under the age of 40. Currently, Camp is president, CEO, and co-owner of Meadowcraft-Plantation Patterns, the largest producer of outdoor iron furniture in the world. Camp and his wife, Tammy, currently live in Birmingham. They have four daughters, Laura, Stephanie, Felicia, and Sabrina.
	Kathryn Gardner Casper ( Class of 1997 ) - Kathryn Gardner Casper is a 1997 graduate of Phillips High School. During her senior season, Casper was a regional winner of the Bryant-Jordan Scholar Athlete Award. She was honored with an all-state first-team volleyball selection the same year. Casper was an outstanding athlete, making numerous county, conference, area, and tournament teams in not only volleyball, but basketball as well. In 1996, Casper qualified for the state track and field meet in two events. In 1997, she qualified for three. After her graduation, Casper attended Wallace State Community College on a volleyball scholarship, where she was a two-year starter. While at the school, she competed in the National Junior College Championship Tournament in Utah. Casper would go on to attend Auburn University, where she would earn her degree in industrial and systems engineering. Casper, who lives in Georgia with her husband, Mark, currently works as a marketing manager for Cooper Lighting in Peachtree City. She continues to play competitive volleyball, often in outdoor leagues. Casper is currently pursuing her MBA at Auburn and plans to graduate in May of 2008.
	Dr. Attie Anderson Fleming ( Special Category ) - Dr. Attie Anderson Fleming made the Hall of Fame in the special category. Fleming has promoted the athletic programs, schools, churches of Bear Creek and the surrounding area through his weekly newspaper column, Bear Creek News and Views, in the Northwest Alabamian for eight years. His articles have often been published in the Journal Record as well. He researched the history of the school and community, including the first Phillips football team and the first football game played under artificial lights. Fleming has established an endowed scholarship at Auburn University in the College of Agriculture for students in Marion, Winston, and Franklin Counties. Fleming is a former 'Alumnus of the Year' at PHS, 'Citizen of the Year' in Bear Creek,and Grand Marshal of the 2006 PHS Alumni Parade. He is a member of the Bear Creek United Methodist Church. Prior to his military service as a sergeant in the U.S. Army in Korea, he was a leader of the 1100 4H boys with the Alabama Extension Service. Fleming is thought to be the first student from Phillips to receive a doctorate. He had the highest freshman scholastic average in the College of Agriculture at Auburn. He also earned a doctorate in plant genetics at the University of Minnesota. He also taught and performed research in genetics and plant breeding for 36 years at the University of Georgia. In 1954, Fleming was selected by students and faculty as the Outstanding Teacher in the College of Agriculture. Known as 'Mr. Toastmaster' in the state of Georgia for being a charter member of the Athens Toastmaster Club, Fleming is a noted speaker, teacher, and scientist. Fleming is married to the former Mildred Ray of Hackleburg. They reside in Birmingham and Athens.

	Mae Lynn Williams ( Class of 1997 ) - Mae Lynn Williams is a 1997 graduate of Phillips High School.<br>In 1995, Williams was selected as the She-Bears’ most improved player. She was also named as Miss Track the same year.<br>In 1996, Williams was given the leadership and dedication award as a basketball player.<br>She was also named Miss Track at the school once again, and for good reason. Williams finished third in the discus throw and fourth in the shot put events at the state meet.<br>In 1997, Williams was named best offensive volleyball player.<br>She was the captain of the basketball team and won the Best Rebounder Award.<br>In track and field, Williams placed first in the county, conference, and state shot put competitions.<br>After her graduation, Williams attended Southern Union State Community College where she was most valuable player of the volleyball team. She also won the team’s best hitter and best office player awards.<br>Williams would go on the Freed Hardeman University where she also played volleyball. She would earn the title of captain of the team at her new college as well.<br>Williams currently teaches middle school at East Junior High School in Somersville, TN.<br>She also coaches volleyball and softball for Fayette-Ware High School.

	Jeff Bostick ( Class of 1983 ) - Jeff Bostick is a 1983 graduate of Winfield City High School.<br>During his time as a Pirate, Bostick was a three-year player on the school’s football squad, four-year player on the basketball squad, and two-year member of the track and field team.<br>As a football player, Bostick was recognized as an all-area player. He also won the Dr. George Mann "Gold Helmet Award" during his senior season.<br>He was also given the team’s Co-Captain Award, Receiver Award, and Defensive Back Award during his senior season.<br>Bostick was named to numerous all-conference teams and was recognized as the WOWL Florence/Pizza-Hut Award winner.<br>During his senior season as a basketball player at the school, Bostick was named the team’s most valuable player, best offensive player, and best defensive player.<br>He was also named to all-county and all-conference teams. Bostick also won the team’s Mr. Rebounder Award.<br>After his graduation, Bostick attended Brewer State, currently known as Bevill State Community College, in Fayette.<br>Bostick is currently living in Flower Mound, TX., and is employed as a sales representative with Graybar Electric.<br>Bostick and his wife, Mandy have been married for 22 years. They have three sons, Clay, Brandon, and Matt.
	Tom Burleson ( Class of 1981 ) - Tom Burleson is a 1981 graduate of Winfield City High School.<br>As a Pirate, Burleson lettered in football, baseball, and track and field.<br>He was a four-time letterman in football. Burleson was honored as an all-conference performer and received a team award for dedication in the off season.<br>Burleson was a three-year baseball player at Winfield. He was recognized as an all-county baseball player. Burleson was also selected as an East-West All Star.<br>In track and field, Burleson was selected as an all-conference performer in the 4 by 440 yard relay.<br>Burleson was also a standout student at Winfield. He was a member of the Honor Society, Who’s Who Among American High School Students, the Society of Distinguished American High School Students, and Boys State.<br>Burleson was also the Key Club’s vice-president his junior year and president his senior year.<br>After his graduation, Burleson attended the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa where he received a bachelors and masters degree in Mineral Engineering.<br>Burleson is currently the general manager for Nelson Brothers Mining Service in Gillette, Wyoming.<br>Burleson and his wife, Cindy have two children, Thomas and Jessica.
	Bart Butler ( Class of 1986 ) - Bart Butler is a 1986 graduate of Winfield City High School.<br>Butler played four years on the school’s football and baseball teams and three years on the basketball team.<br>During his time on the Pirates’ football squad, Butler won the offensive back and defensive back awards.<br>Butler was an all-county and all-area performer during his junior and senior seasons.<br>He also received an all-state honorable mention as a defensive back during his junior season.<br>As a basketball player, Butler received the team’s best defensive player award as a sophomore, junior, and senior.<br>During his senior season, he was named to the all-county and all-area teams. Butler was named the all-area most valuable player as well. He received the Mr. Hustle and captain awards and was an all-state honorable mention.<br>After his graduation, Butler attended Northwest Alabama Junior College on a basketball scholarship.<br>Currently living in Winfield, Butler has worked at Continental Conveyer since 1988. He is married to Kim Harbin Butler and has three step-children, Zann, Zack, and Zandria.
	Jason Marshall ( Class of 1989 ) - Jason Marshall is a 1989 graduate of Winfield City High School.<br>Marshall was a four-sport athlete at the school, playing baseball, basketball, football, and track and field.<br>Marshall was a four-year starter on the school’s baseball team and had a combined pitching record of 27-8. He was named to all-county and all-conference teams during each of his baseball seasons.<br>Marshall was a three-year starter on the Pirates; basketball team. In 1988 and 1989, Marshall was named to all-county, all-conference, and the Big Orange Classic All-Tournament teams. Marshall went on to be named a first-team all-state performer. He scored 47 points against Curry in an area championship game, which, at the time was a single game scoring record.<br>He scored 1,472 points in his basketball career at the school.<br>Marshall also played quarterback, wide receiver, and free safety on the football squad. In 1987, he received the defensive back award. In 1988 and 1989, Marshall was named to all-county and all-conference teams and received the Captains Award during his senior season.<br>In 1988 and 1989, Marshall was a part of the all-county and all-conference track and field teams. During his senior season, he won a bronze medal for his third-place finish in the long jump competition at the Class 4A state championships with a jump of 21 feet and 2 inches.<br>After his graduation, Marshall attended Northwest Community College where he played baseball. In 1992, he was named the team captain and played in the Alabama Community College All-Star game.<br>In 1993, Marshall was a member of the United States Specialty Sports Association’s state championship softball squad.<br>The team would go on to win the championship of the World Softball League. Marshall was named to the All-World Team.<br>Marshall is currently coaching cross country and track and field at Bevill State Community College, where he has been for the past six years.<br>Under his guidance, the team has won four conference championships and has finished in the Top Five nationally.<br>Marshall has been named Region 22 Coach of the Year four times and was a finalist for national honors in 2006.<br> While at Bevill State Community College, Marshall has coached 23 All-Americans and one National Champion Long-Jumper.<br>He resides in Winfield with his wife, the former Jessie Williams of Hamilton.
	Mickey Osborn ( Class of 1977 ) - Mickey Osborn is a 1977 graduate of Winfield City High School.<br>Osborn was a four-year letterman in football, four-year letterman in track and field, two-year letterman in baseball, and one-year letterman in basketball.<br>Although he played four sports in high school, Osborn’s passion was football.<br>He started six games as a freshman and was a member of the Pirates’ 1975 regional championship team.<br>Osborn was the starting center and defensive end for coach Joe Hubbert’s 1976 team that finished 10-2-1 and advanced to the state semi-finals.<br>He was selected as an all-conference player as a senior. Osborn was also selected as the defensive lineman of the week five times and offensive lineman of the week three times during the same season.<br>Osborn was awarded defensive lineman of the year honors during the 1976 season.<br>He was presented the football award winning performance certificate for both his junior and senior seasons.<br>Osborn has been a Winfield resident his entire life. He owns the Osborn Production Oil Field Service Company.<br>He has coached the Winfield Toy Bowl team for 12 years and Dixie Youth baseball for six years.<br>Osborn, who is married to the former Judie Spiller, has one son, Mason, and a step-daughter, Ashley Holcomb.
	Shawn Smothers ( Class of 1985 ) - Shawn Smothers is a 1985 graduate of Winfield City High School.<br>Lettering in football for five years, Smothers won the school’s Gold Helmet Award in 1983 and 1984. He also won the Captain Award during his senior season.<br>Smothers made the all-county team in 1984 and the all-area team during his junior and senior seasons.<br>Smothers lettered in baseball four years. He was a member of the all-county team in 1984 and 1985. He also won the team’s defensive award in 1984.<br>Smothers, a three-year letterman in basketball, was the team’s most valuable player in 1984. During his junior and senior seasons, he made all-conference, all-area, and all-county teams.<br>He was also honored with the Captain Award and was the team’s best free throw shooter.<br>After his graduation, Smothers attended Bevill State, where he played baseball for one year.<br>Smothers currently resides in Guin with his wife and three children.
