Ms. LuSundra “Cookie” Maddox, age 50, of Delray Beach, Florida, formerly of Sulligent, Alabama, passed away on February 25, 2009 in Florida.

Funeral service, Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel. Burial in the Brown Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating.

Ms. Maddox was born on October 6, 1958 to the late Minnie Lee Guyton Maddox and Clinton C. Maddox. She was a member of the St. James Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for many years. Ms. Maddox was a 1977 graduate of Sulligent High School. She grew up being active in the Young Matrons and she also was a member of the Easter Star. In her later years she moved to Delray Beach, Florida where she attended Ebenezer Baptist Church.

She is survived by 4 sisters, Vivian (Isaac) Scurry, Delray Beach, FL., Melanie (Matt) Olson, Augusta, GA., Valeria Maddox, Sulligent, AL., Pamela Harvard, Lake Worth, FL; and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Minnie Lee Guyton Maddox; father, Clinton C. Maddox; and brother-in-law: Shurod Harvard.

Mrs. Rubye Nell Lee Aldridge, age 78 of Winfield, Alabama, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2009 at her residence.

Mrs. Aldridge was born on July 27, 1930 in Marion County, Alabama to the late Joseph Newton Lee and Allie Bell Erwin Lee. She was previously employed in various sewing plants, Wal-Mart in Winfield and Winfield Schools; she was a hard worker and worked all her life; and she was a member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church.

She is survived by 1 son, Robert Owen Aldridge of Winfield, AL; 1 granddaughter, Melissa Aldridge of Haleyville, AL; 2 great-granddaughters, Karlie and Hailey Aldridge of Haleyville, AL; 1 sister, Margie Lee Orsborn of Winfield, AL; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Joseph Newton Lee and Allie Bell Erwin Lee, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hoyt Drew Aldridge, Sr.; 1 son, Hoyt Drew Aldridge, Jr.; 1 sister, Lorene Lee Webster; and a special sister-in-law, Coy Gilstrap.

Steve was born August 24, 1958 in Marion County, AL., to the late Johnnie and Mae Nix Lynn. He was a resident of Guin for the past 20 years. He formerly lived in Winfield. He was a homebuilder by trade and his church affiliation was Baptist.

He is survived by 4 brothers, Johnny Lynn and Grove (Paula) Lynn of Guin, AL, Herbie Lynn of Lubbock, TX., and Jerry Lee (Cookie) Lynn of Andrews, TX.; 3 sisters, Pat Gann, Diane (Russell) Cole and Pangie McCluskey, all of Guin, AL.; special niece, Brittany Webb; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Johnnie and Mae Nix Lynn, he was preceded in death by 1 sister, Brenda Faye Lynn; 1 niece, Diana Burks; and 1 nephew George Michael Lynn.

Mr. Roy Holliman, age 86 of Winfield, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2009 in the Golden Living Center at Winfield.

Mr. Holliman was born April 4, 1922 in Marion County, AL., to the late Sidney Warren Holliman and Maudie Frances Harbin Holliman. He was a resident of Winfield most of his life; retired from Ryder Truck Lines; WWII US Air Force Veteran; member of American Legion Post 100, Masonic Lodge #304 and First Baptist Church, all in Winfield, AL.

He is survived by two nieces, Sherry Waldeck of San Francisco, CA and Shelia Fowler of Guin, AL; and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney Warren Holliman and Maudie Frances Harbin Holliman; his wife, Floy Lee Green Holliman; an infant sister; and 2 brothers, William Troy and Edward Paul Holliman.

Mr. Paul McGuffie, age 84 of Pinson, Alabama, passed away March 24, 2009 at his residence.

Paul McGuffie, was born on April 1, 1924,to the late Bert and Lou Etta McGuffie.  Paul was a very devoted husband and father. He was a Sergeant in the Army during WWII where he was wounded twice and received a Purple Heart with One Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star and a WWII Victory Medal. He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Pinson.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Paula Weems, Sheila Dewees and Angela McGuffie; 2 sons, Brad and Mark McGuffie; 7 grandchildren, Jana Weems Gaither (Jeff), Katie Dewees, Jay Weems, Michelle Hazelwood (Jim), David and Andrew Dewees and Brittany Marcum; 4 great grandchildren, Paul "Brady" and Abby Gaither, Ariana Evans-Young and Eli Hazelwood; 3 sisters, Virginia Johns of Hanceville, Opal Wallace (Ray) of Texas, Yvonne Latham (Chuck) of Texas; 1 brother, Edgar (Linda) McGuffie of Trussville; and 2 sisters-in-law, Johnnie McGuffie of Birmingham and Mary McGuffie of Birmingham; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and a cherished friend Norma Champion.

Born in New Albany, MS to the late Julius and Rudell Jones, she spent her childhood and younger years in Guin, Alabama before moving to Cleveland, Ohio. She returned home to Guin three years ago.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Kim (Elmer) Austin, Venita Belk and Sandra Rice 1 son, Bobby Belk, 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Addie Lee Swanigan all of Guin, AL.

She was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Elizabeth Brooks and Ozell Becton; and 2 brothers, Charles Jones and Edgar Jones.

Mr. Michael M. Gilbreath
(February 21, 1954 - March 27, 2009)

Double Springs Fire Chief Michael “Mike” Martin Gilbreath, age 55, of Double Springs, Alabama, passed away Friday, March 27, 2009.

Visitation, Saturday March 28, 2009 from 6:00 -9:00 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Double Springs.

Full Firefighter Honors services held Sunday, March 29, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Winston County High School Gymnasium.. Reverend Mickey Millican, Reverend Bill Frank Wilson and Reverend Darrin Reynolds officiating. Burial at Winston Memorial Cemetery in Haleyville.

Mike was born February 21, 1954 in Jacksonville, NC. He was a life long resident of Double Springs, Alabama where he served as a volunteer fireman for 39 years and served as Chief for 19 of those years. He owned Mike’s Auto Parts for 10 years before becoming an employee of the Winston County Road Department. Mike was a member of Union Grove Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher.

Mike is survived by his wife Ruby Thomas Gilbreath, one son, Erik Michael Gilbreath of Double Springs and one daughter, Amanda Elizabeth Gilbreath of Madison, AL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, LC and Doris Gilbreath and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. LV Martin, and Mr. and Mrs. Leldon Gilbreath Sr.

She is survived by 4 sons, Dr. David L. (Frances) Knight of Hamilton, AL., William Donald “Don” Knight of Guin, AL., Morris Edward (Rhonda) Knight of Columbus, MS., and Carlon H. James R. Seahorn, age 62, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2009.

Mr. Seahorn was born February 16, 1947, to the late Howard and Audie Mae Seahorn. He worked a number of years as a salesman for Joslyn Corp. Birmingham - Atlanta. He currently worked for Glasforms, Birmingham, AL. He loved life, his Savior Jesus and his family at Hopewell Baptist Church, Pinson where he was a member.

He is survived by his wife Peggy Head Seahorn and son Byron (Tara) Seahorn of Pinson. Sisters Marie Donald of Tupelo and Susie Willis of Russellville. Grandsons whom he loved dearly, Cameron and Perry Seahorn of Pinson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Audie Mae Seahorn, 2 brothers Billy Seahorn and Gene Seahorn (of Hamilton, AL.) and sister Annie Lee Fisher.

Jimmy Dean Reese, age 64 of Guin, Alabama passed away Friday, March 6, 2009 in the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield, Alabama.

Reese was born in Fayette, Alabama to the late Clyde and Sarah Head Reese. He had lived in Guin most of his life and was a retired Free Will Baptist Minister and was a member of the Liberty Free Will Baptist Church.

And he was a member of New Hope Independent Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ulmer Gene Pollock.
