Mr. Barnes was born February 10, 1939, in Marion County, Alabama to the late Andrew Caleb and Alice Stidham Barnes.  He was married to the Ethleen Williford Barnes.

He is survived by his wife, Ethleen Barnes of Phil Campbell, AL.; 2 sons, Waymon Paul Barnes, Jr. and David Paul Barnes, both of Birmingham, AL.; 4 daughters, Brenda Smith of Michigan, Linda Hertzing of North Carolina, Paulette Moore of Hamilton, AL., and Shannon Lawler of Phil Campbell, AL.; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren including his little angel, Amber; 1 sister, Eloise Hopper of Hamilton, AL.; 3 brothers, A.C. Barnes of Hamilton, AL., Windfred Lee Barnes of Birmingham, AL., and Max Barnes of Hamilton, AL.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Gerald Feltman, age 75, of Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2009, at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo, MS.

Mr. Feltman was born January 19, 1934, in Marion County, AL., to the late Jim and Vic Gann Feltman.  He was in Sales and was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille Feltman; step-children, Todd (Mia) Evans and Dee (Mike) Noe; grandchildren, Sam, Ellie, Hugh, and Henry Evans, and Maddie and Nathan Noe; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Larry Eugene Cochran, age 61, of Hodges, Alabama, passed away Sunday, North MS Medical Center in Hamilton, AL.

Mr. Cochran was born February 1, 1947 in Franklin County, AL., to the late Elthan Eugene and Velma Lee Lawler Cochran.  He was a Truck Driver.

He is survived by 2 sons, Larry Pat (Rita) Cochran, and Chris (Tonya) Cochran; brothers, W.G. (Ann) Cochran, Ricky (Debra) Cochran, and Terry Lane Cochran; grandchildren, Elisha Cochran, Patrick Cochran, Victoria Cochran, Baylee Cochran, and Zayne Cochran; and a host of nieces.

Mrs. Reynolds was born May 14, 1936, in Walker County, AL. to the late Jessie Campbell, Jr. and Irene Jeanice Cook Campbell.  She was a Seamstress and Inspector at the Textile Mills. 

She is survived by her children, Carla Jean Jenkins, Carolyn Louise Jenkins, and Carlton Robert Jenkins; 2 grandchildren; and 1 brother, Jerry Wayne Campbell.

He is survived by his wife, Aleen Gary Ables; children, Don (Melanie) Ables, Cynthia (Bruce) Bonds, Dina Ables Bryant, and Dylan Rodgers; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and 1 brother, Billy Joe Ables.

He is survived by 2 sons, Randy Nichols, and Rodney Nichols; 3 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Denver Nichols; 3 sisters, Lois Johnson, Audrey Nichols, and Bernice Avery.

Funeral services, Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. Officiating minister, Bro. Garnett Brown. Visitation at the funeral home, Friday evening, February 6, 2009, 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Serving as active pallbearers will be Stephen Reeves, Danny Cox, Wesley Sudduth, Chris Jackson, Danleigh Bryant and Rex Canterbury.

Ms. Canterbury was born on June 10, 1924 in Millport, AL to the late Joe Lee and Eva Lou McGee Bryant. She was married to the late Beauford Canterbury. Mrs. Canterbury was a life long resident of Lamar County and a member of Blooming Grove Independent Missionary Baptist Church. She loved gardening, flowers, singing and her children and family with all her heart. Most of all, she loved the Lord.

Ms. Crump was born January 24, 1928 in Monroe County, MS to the late Edgar Garland and Nettie Ester Kelly Pogue. She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Ms. Crump was a graduate of Greenwood Springs High School. She had training in medical physicians billing and coding and was previously employed with Jefferson Clinic P.C. Ms. Crump served with the American Heart Association and Crippled Children's Association. She enjoyed flowers.

She is survived by her daughter, Anita Crump, Birmingham, AL.; 2 brothers, Ralph Pogue, Dallas, TX., and Lloyd (Harriett) Pogue, Astoria, OR.; nieces and nephews, Jerry Pogue, Tracey Pogue, Pam Pogue and Janice Pogue.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Garland and Nettie Ester Pogue; and 1 brother, Kelly Pogue.

Mr. Thomas was born March 20, 1960 in Walker County, AL to Ronald David Thomas Sr. and the late Francis Gaddy Shaw.  He was employed with RWC Logging in Guin, AL. Mr. Thomas enjoyed junk cars, race cars and playing his guitar.

He is survived by his father, Ronald David Thomas Sr., Jasper, AL.; his wife, Teresa O’Mary Thomas, Vernon, AL.; 1 daughter. Natasha Ann Miller, Vernon, AL.; 2 grandchildren. Emerald Miller, and Stormy McDonald, 1 brother, Mike Gaddy, Winfield, AL.; and 1 sister, Veronica Reynolds, Fayette, AL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tilman and Francis Gaddy Shaw.

James Hermon Webb, age 84, of Guin, AL passed away Friday, February 20, 2009 in the Select Specialty Hospital in Birmingham, AL.

Born in Beaverton, AL. He is the Son of the late Kelley and Florence McCluskey Webb and the husband of Mildred Hightower Webb. He had lived in Guin most of his life, was a member of the Guin First United Methodist Church and had retired from Alabama Power after 33 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Hightower Webb of Guin, AL.; 2 sons, Steven (Judith) Webb, and James Terry Webb; and a grandson, William Kelson Webb who was his pride and joy, all of Birmingham, AL.; a brother-in-law, Joe Jones of Birmingham, AL.; and a niece, Cathy Wooden of Wyoming.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kelley and Florence McCluskey Webb; 1 brother; and 3 sisters.

Mrs. Johnnie Markham Turman, age 81, of Sulligent, AL. passed away Monday, February 23, 2009 at the Oak Tree Plantation Retirement Center in Amory, MS.

Mrs. Turman was born December 9, 1927 in Lamar County, AL to the late Lance Beal and Louthel Pickle Markham. She was married to the late Roy Lybrand Turman. Mrs. Turman attended the Pine Springs Methodist Church. She had previously worked at Kroger in Amory, Columbus and Aberdeen, MS. She enjoyed shopping and eating out.

She is survived by 1 son, Joe (Ruthie) Minor, Amory, MS; 1 granddaughter, Kim (Craig) Bateman, Columbus, MS; and 5 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lance Beal and Louthel Pickle Markham; husband, Roy Lybrand Turman; 1st husband, Joe B. Minor; 1 son, Steve Minor; 1 sister, Frances McDonald; 2 granddaughters, Jennifer Leigh Minor, and Crystal Wilson Smith.

Ms. LuSundra “Cookie” Maddox, age 50, of Delray Beach, Florida, formerly of Sulligent, Alabama, passed away on February 25, 2009 in Florida.

Funeral service, Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel. Burial in the Brown Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating.

Ms. Maddox was born on October 6, 1958 to the late Minnie Lee Guyton Maddox and Clinton C. Maddox. She was a member of the St. James Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for many years. Ms. Maddox was a 1977 graduate of Sulligent High School. She grew up being active in the Young Matrons and she also was a member of the Easter Star. In her later years she moved to Delray Beach, Florida where she attended Ebeneezer Baptist Church.

She is survived by 4 sisters, Vivian (Isaac) Scurry, Delray Beach, FL., Melanie (Matt) Olson, Augusta, GA., Valeria Maddox, Sulligent, AL., Pamela Harvard, Lake Worth, FL; and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Minnie Lee Guyton Maddox; father, Clinton C. Maddox; and brother-in-law: Shurod Harvard.

She is survived by 2 sons, Douglas Clay Akers and Mark Alan (Debbie) Akers, 2 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and a sister, Millatene "Mickie" Oliver all of Guin, AL.

Martin L. “Corky” Buckley, age 79, of Sulligent, AL, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2009 in the Care Center in Vernon, AL.

Mr. Buckley was born in Sulligent, AL, to the late Horace Leon and Lorie Maddox Buckley. He had lived in Sulligent most of his life. He was a Veteran having served in the US Air force, a member of the Sulligent Masonic Lodge, the Shriners and the Sulligent First Baptist Church. He retired after 30 years of service from Liberty National Life Insurance Company as District Sales Manager.

He is survived by his wife, Gwen Nolen Buckley of Sulligent, AL, a daughter, Lori Smith (Todd) Buchman of Kent Island, MD; 3 sons, Alan Lynn (Susie Ducan) Buckley of Scottsboro, AL, James “Jim” Leon (Amelia McAfee) Buckley of Palestine, TX and Jay Scott (Donna Kellum) Buckley of Sulligent, AL. 6 grand-daughters and 1 grandson, a brother, Horace Frank (Leonora Green) Buckley of Sulligent, AL and several nieces and nephews.
