Sarah was born in August 4, 1908 in Marion County, Alabama to the late John B. and Idelia Belk Seay. She was the widow of the late Ira Rye. She was a retired Homemaker and she and her late husband Ira ran a grocery store in Weston for many years. Sarah was a member of Cooper Church which was formerly known as Huffman School, (history of Huffman School as told by Sarah can be found below*).

Green of Hamilton, AL.; 4 grandchildren, Ronnie Lewis, Linda Green Ruhl, Gail Green Rousselle, and Curtis Green; 2 great-grandsons; several nieces (including the writer of this obituary), nephews, other relatives and friends.
*(History of Huffman School: Huffman School (in the Cooper Community) was a one room school for all ages, with one teacher. It was heated with a big wood heater, also the children gathered wood to use and went across the road and down the hill to a spring where they filled a bucket with water for all the children and teacher to drink that day...all out of the same dipper.
Due to the lack of local church buildings, it was then used on Sunday for a church, with a variety of different denomination preachers. Due to the lack of local church buildings, this is where Sarah first joined the church. Later she moved her membership to Cooper Church when the first church building was built at the old cemetery. Her membership still remains there.)
