Marjorie Roberts

83 Years Old

"Marge", as she was so lovingly called, lived a very simple life.  Her thoughts and accomplished were not of this world.  She may not have achieved a lot of fame and fortune in her life here on this earth but throughout her 83 years,  she understood this world was not eternal.

Marge made friends wherever she went.  She spent almost a year in a nursing facility that showed her love and care and she returned that love and respect to her caregivers.

She had a great love for her family.  Her mom and dad were rewarded with not only love and loyalty but countless hours of tenderness and devotion as a caregiver.

A special great-niece that she spoke of so often was Melinda Roberts.  Although, a young lady, she was still a little girl to Marge.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.  While they tried to give HER care and strength, They were the ones that received the joy and honor and blessings from knowing her.

February 28, 1949 - July 10, 2007

Well-known in Marion County Police circles and well thought of by all that knew him. That's how I like to think of Tommy Wooten.

Personal Note from Judy Mays & Wayne Mays:

I searched for the poem about the Policeman answering his last call but could not find it...so here is what I consider a very appropriate poem to honor Tommy as a Policeman and as a good Christian man:

      The Final Inspection
                                            Author Unknown

The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.

There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

Tommy, you will be missed by all that knew and loved you!
