He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Cora Lee Minor Stanford of
Sulligent, AL.; 2 daughters, Loretta King, Sulligent, AL., and Juanita
Barton Walker and her husband Terry of Moody, AL.; 1 sister, Freddie Mae
Eastman Robinson, Columbus, MS.; 3 grandchildren, John Rodney Sizemore and
his wife Cheryl of Sulligent, AL., Jason Bradley Barton of Pelham, AL., and
Jared Brandon Barton of Leeds, AL.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Edward and Dessie Jane Noe
Stanford; 8 brothers, Lawrence, Robert, Raymond, Cager, Coy, William Jack,
Lecil and Walt Stanford; 6 Sisters: Florence Johnson, Julie Morrow, Maggie
Finch, Viola Lucas, Ruby Gray White, Violet Ray Stanford and a infant Son.

Collie Benford Stanford, age
88, of Sulligent, Alabama, passed away Friday, January 1, 2010 at his
residence.
Visitation, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., Monday, January 4, 2010, Sulligent First Free
Will Baptist Church. Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 5, 2010,
Sulligent First Free Will Baptist Church. Burial in the Beaverton Cemetery
Mr. Stanford was born February 3, 1921 in Lamar County, Alabama to the late
William Edward and Dessie Jane Noe Stanford. He had worked for L.G. Boyett
and Sons for 23 years as a mechanic, and then with the Lamar County
Commission, District 2 as a road hand until he was elected and served 16
years as the Lamar County Commissioner for District 2. Mr. Stanford was a
member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Sulligent, Alabama and a
life long resident of the Pine Springs Community.
