Ms. Dorothy Christian Chaffin

Dorothy Christian Chaffin, age 90, Guin, Alabama, passed away Friday, May 15, 2010 in the Golden Living Center in Winfield, Alabama.

Visitation, Monday, May 17, 2010, 12:00 noon - 1:00 p.m., Norwood Funeral Home, Guin, Alabama. Funeral service, 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 17, 2010, Norwood Funeral Home Chapel following visitation. Burial in the Fairview Cemetery. Scott Stokes officiating. Pallbearers, nephews.

Ms. Chaffin was born in Lamar County, Alabama to the late Thomas and Julia Butler Christian. She was the widow of the late J. E. Chaffin. She had lived in Sulligent and Guin most of her life. She graduated from Massey Business College and worked for Health Tex as Office Manager and Bookkeeper for 26 years before retiring. She was a member of the Guin First Baptist Church where she was a choir member and served on the Bereavement Committee for many years. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and working in her flowers.

She is survived by 1 daughter, Sheila (Terry) Young of Mary Ester, FL.; 2 grandchildren, Everett Eugene "Butch" (Lea) Chaffin, Jr. and Mistie (Josh) Nichols all of Mobile, AL.; 4 great-grandchildren, Cayla, Chloe, Carlee and Veronica; 1 sister, Nannie South of Sulligent, AL.; and 1 brother, J. T. (Sue) Christain of Beaverton, AL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.E. Chaffin; 2 sons, Michael Chaffin and Everett Eugene "Butch" Chaffin Sr.; 2 sisters; 5 brothers; and her parents, Thomas and Julia Butler Christian.
