Ms. Dorothy V. Mitchell Taylor

Dorothy V. Mitchell Taylor, of Phil Campbell, Ala., passed away Thursday, June 25, 2009.

Visitation, 12:00 noon - 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2009, at Akins Funeral Home. Funeral service, 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2009, in the funeral home chapel. Brother Jerry Pounders and Brother Wayne Boyles officiating. Interment in Liberty Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Odom, Billy Joe Mitchell, Donald Hovater, Glenn Swinney, Tim Frederick and Dural Swinney. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Mitchell, Frank Mitchell, Ryan Evans and David Duke.

She was preceded in death by husband, Rufus Wilmer Taylor; parents, Joseph Mitchell and Ida Galloway Mitchell; 4 brothers, Bob Mitchell, Bill Mitchell, Lem Mitchell, Byron Mitchell, Fred "Ted" Mitchell; 4 sisters, Marcine Swinney, Maud Duke, Dessie Britton and Mattie Moon.

She is survived by daughters, Ann Taylor Evans, Susan T. Odom and husband, James Ronald Odom; grandchildren, Amy D. Odom, Patrick J. Odom and wife, Kayla, Ryan T. Evans; great-grandchild, Parker J. Odom; sisters-in-law, Edna Mitchell and Vicki Taylor Mitchell.

She was a former member of First Baptist Church, of Phil Campbell, Alabama and was a long-time member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Randy Pounders, Dr. Jerry Williams, Helen Keller Hospital fourth-floor nursing staff, Russellville Hospital ER staff and Phil Campbell Rescue Squad.
